        THERE  IT  WAS.   how  could  anyone  possibly  blame  lucie  for  being  the  way  she  is,  when  she  has  such  formidable  role  models  to  show  her  just   how  it’s  done?  the  curl  of  rosy  lips  is  devious,  yet  the  glint  in  turquoise  is  pure   ─────   completely  devoid  of   demonic  energy,  despite  what  the  clave  or  certain  impressionable  boys  often  like  to  believe.   hair  dangles  loosely  from  the  golden  clips  in  her  hair,   and  she  leans  forward  onto  the  table  conspicuously.     ❝    TORMENTING  is  a  strong  word.   i  simply  want  to  make  sure  they  know  my  brother  is  not  the  only  herondale   who  is.  .  .   TAINTED.     ❞ 

          boys.   they  always   think  they  can  handle  everything,  and  refuse  to  ask  for  help.   time  to  use  that.    ❝    anna  is  already  helping  me,  but  i  thought  an  adult  would  be  a  good  ally  to  have.   ❞    although,  considering  how  many  times  she’s  witnessed   aunt  cecy   and  her  father  go  on  in  their  petty  disagreements,  it  almost  feels  as  if  that   should   be  sarcastic.   still,   lucie  appeals  right  to  the  violet  of  her  eyes,  the  tilt  of  her  head  child-like.    ❝   .  .  .  it’s  about  time  i  defend  my  brother’s  honor,  right?   since  i  can’t  get  to  whoever   obliterated   his    HEART.    ❞

         AUNT  CECY’S  WORD  WAS  LAW.   at  least ,  it  was  when  she  said  absolutely  enamoring  things  like  this ,  and  made  lucie’s  cheeks  dimple ,  her  childlike  smile  still  full  of  WONDER.   despite  the  amount  of  time  lucie  spent  at  her  desk  writing  about  heroines ,  that  didn’t  mean  she  didn’t  want  to   be  one ,  too.   in  fact ,  she  likes  to  think  of  her  writing  as  gathering  material .   ❝    if  you  say  so ,  it  must  be  true.   ❞   and  perhaps,  she  could  add  her  aunt’s  words  to  her  book.   fictional  cordelia   would  love  to  hear  them   ─────    although  she  didn’t  need  to  hear  them   as  much  as  dainty ,  small  lucie  did.  

               she’s  always  treated  as  if  she’s.  .  .  fragile.    she’s  not .    ❝   i  believe  i  do  have  the  herondale  fighting  spirit.  i  better  have ,  because  i  plan  on  asking  at  least   two  people   for  a  duel  as  soon  as  i  have  gained  some   experience.   ❞    oh  yes.   she’s  already  picked  who  she  would  like  to  have  quarrels  with.   it  would  be   IMPRACTICAL   not  to ,  with  all  the  rumors  that  swirl  around  about  her  tainted  blood.   lucie’s  head  tilts  sideways ,  knowing  she’s  being  quite  coy  and  silly.  .  .  yet  she’s  actually  quite  serious,  too.     ❝   .  .  . i  may  require  some   tips   from  you  once  i’m  allowed  to  divulge  my  enemies.  ❞

TID  SENTENCES      ⦙⦙     for   @choosewar    !           ACCEPTING.

       it’s  a  sentence  he’s  never  thought   to  hear  from   HER  LIPS.   despite  the  darkness  that  follows  her  and  her  family  ,  it’s  never  something  he  sees  in  her.   not  even  when  she’s  jumping  on  the  back  of  demons  ,  who  may  or  may  not  be  his  father  ,  or  covered  in  ichor  or  her  own  blood.  cecily  herondale  didn’t  have  much  of  it,  and  she  certainly  seems  to  keep   𝐇𝐈𝐒   𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒   at  bay.   perhaps  that’s  why  he  smiles .  .  .  or  maybe,  it’s  the  meaning  of  her  words.    ❝   i  can’t  quite  picture  you  in  darkness,  cecy.   ❞    it  doesn’t  dawn  on  him  to  perhaps  say  it  back.   doesn’t  she  already  know?

         besides,  he’s  caught  up  in  the  startling   night-blue  eyes,   on  the  way  the    𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊    hair   touches  her  shoulders.   he  wants  to  move  closer ,   so  he  takes  a step ,   but  he  also  doesn’t  get  too  close.   ❝    although ,  i  certainly  do  hope  you  think  of  me  ,  at  every  instance.   even  in  darkness.   ❞    maybe  she  means  it  to  be  serious ,  but  gabriel  is  half-grinning ,  finding  it   cute   that  she’d  say  it.  even  if   he  lacks  the  eloquence  to  give  her  a  poetic  ,  worthy  reply.    ❝    you’ve  taken  me  out  of  my  darkness ,  and  i  do   𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐋𝐘   plan  on  being  in  the  light  with  you  for  as  long  as  i  possibly  can.   ❞
