For unique writing ask game: 3 and 17 please!

hello!!  i’ve answered 17 here already, so i’ll answer 3 here! 3.  What loves do you tend to write about? Agape (unconditional, spiritual love), Eros (romantic, passionate love), Philia (affectionate, platonic love), Philautia (self-love), Storge (familial love), Pragma (enduring love like between long-married couples), Ludus (playful love, infatuation you feel during the “honeymoon period”), and Mania (obsessive love that leads to madness and jealousy) !!! okay that’s a lot of words let me skim it through...

people who know me know i don’t really write romantic love because i really really really want to see pure platonic love more in media!!! but i guess i do dabble in writing romantic love in shorter stuff, but even so it’s... not very romantic. if you get what i mean. things that are romantic, but could also be regarded as platonic.  i do have some familial love in my stuff , though it’s more along the lines of found family rather than blood relatives, which i also think is important and very related to platonic love.  for the new wip i have in mind, there might be spiritual love (i think. im hoping), definitely platonic and familial love, and there’ll be at least one character who’ll have some romantic interests of sorts.  thanks for the ask! <3

Oh yes, most definitely! I’d probably do a link for each chapter, every time it updates.

For now, I’m brainstorming a title as well as some character names. 

I do know at the moment that the main character, our demon friend, is going to be male. I’m leaning towards a female lead scientist, and probably an additional male lead scientist as well, because I’m indecisive. 

It’s definitely going to be something.

(1) I had no idea that Tim playing DnD was canonical! That’s so great! Here are my brief class ideas just based on archetypes and characteristics! Bruce - Paladin - sacred oath + strict morality; Dick - Bard - Dick is a performer. Plus the comic where he reenacts Cinderella to Class makes me think he’s a good storyteller; Jason - Wizard - reads, studies, and shoots things (with magic);

(2) Damian - Ranger - In tune with nature (or in his case, animals), but also has a focus on physical combat whether it be hand to hand or ranged; Steph - Sorcerer - Sorcerers, like Steph, seem to be charismatic and have a lot of willpower; Cass - Monk - expert at hand to hand combat + her observational skills make sense for an ability focus on wisdom; Alfred - Cleric - support for the more combat oriented players

These are all very good for if I did something like Cycle of the Five Lions, where the Batfam was translated to a DnD-style fantasy world as themselves. Except that Bruce would be an oath of vengeance pally, I think, and it might have to be to Pathfinder world so Jason can be a gunslinger. Wizard also works for him, though. Lots of good ranged attacks. 

Damian as a ranger, yes, that’s the first one that occurred to me. Imagine Damian with a bear companion. (Tim: But you know the animal companion isn’t really that useful at higher levels… Damian: I want to ride into BATTLE on a BEAR. Give me that, DRAKE.) And he would do the dual-wield blades instead of being an archer ranger, and they would be katanas.

But gosh, Steph as a sorcerer? PERFECT. All of that wild talent just bursting out. Dick is definitely a bard, very flashy, charisma-based, all about the show. There actually is a ninja class that would work for Cass in some systems, but monk is also good. Alfred as the cleric YES, obviously, but sometimes he gets grumpy and refuses to heal them until they stop being dumbasses for five minutes.

Hey! I have a couple questions. What are your thoughts on Damian (batfam)? And also have you ever written/considered writing original work? I love your fanfics and would love to read anything else you've made or plan to make public!

My thoughts on Damian are...evolving. I actually plan to write his POV next for Year of Fallen Angels, but I feel like I need to read more comics featuring him to get a better feel for his character. Any recs for issues or arcs that would give me a good look at that weird little boy?

I have written original fiction in the past, but it just doesn’t keep my attention the way fanfiction does. I tend to go through cycles where I’ll get really obsessed with something and consume a lot of it or make a lot of it, and then it fades and I’ll move on to something else. I’ve never managed to get obsessed with my own original works. If I could, it would probably be good for me.

Hi! I hope you're doing well! Do you have any favorite relationship dynamics in the batfam?

Probably Dick and Tim. I know it was a little rough at first, but Dick came around to having another little brother really fast. Faster than with Jason, not as fast Damian, if I understand it right. I just love sibling relationships a whole, whole lot, especially protective older siblings. Mutual protectiveness is also good, which is just heightened more by the fact that they’re both superheroes. One of my favorite comics I read back when I was consuming Batman and family stuff like mad was a Nightwing issue where Tim came to Bludhaven and the two of them were riding on top of a train and doing acrobatic tricks and just talking about stuff. Like slightly weird but very loving brothers, you know. It was great, and now I really want to look that one up again.

I second @breezy-cheezy​'s recs. Haven't read too many comics and a lot of what I like about Damian involves developments fans give him in fanfic. I enjoy Batman and Robin (2009) for Damian evolving a bit. Nightwing (2016) has some good Damian content in chapters 1, 4, and 10. Those chapters show him more as a kid which I enjoyed. The Robin War miniseries also has good Dami content.

I totally forgot what Found You was and had to go look it up. I’m so glad you consider that among your favorites! I still kinda want to make a full-fledged novel out of that one someday.
