Hide and Seek: Chreon AU

S.T.A.R.S. operative Chris Redfield is a private person at the best of times, but he's even more private about his sexuality. Despite its name, Raccoon City is no different than any other midwestern small town. The only place he ever goes to meet men is a small and discreet bar run by a local crime syndicate. Chris knows he can socialize there without the risk of running into any fellow cops. Or so he thought.

Meanwhile, rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy has been tasked with investigating the disappearances of several young men from a bar run by a local crime syndicate. He's determined to excel at his first solo case. The only problem is that he's supposed to be going undercover as a gay guy, and he's definitely 100% straight. He could really use the help of someone in the community to navigate this new world. Unfortunately, he doesn't know anyone who's gay.

Or so he thought.

"You okay, sweetheart?" A guy Chris half-recognizes — Ben Something? — interrupts mid-sentence. He rests a hand on Chris' table, peering at Kennedy over thin-framed glasses.

"Can we help you?" Chris cuts in.

The man's scruffy goatee twists in disapproval.

"I wasn't talking to you," he sniffs. "I was talking to the young man you manhandled over here, who doesn't look very happy about it."

Oh jeez. Chris had been caught so unawares by Kennedy's appearance at the bar that he never really considered the optics of taking him aside for a private chat. None of the other customers know Chris is a cop, but the bar staff almost certainly do. Could he have put Kennedy at risk by appearing to know him? Has he blown the guy's cover?

"You're sweet," Kennedy laughs, jolting Chris from his internal spiral. To Chris' surprise, the rookie slides closer, leaning against Chris' arm and smiling up at the goatee'd stranger, fluttering his eyelashes. "But don't you worry. I'm right where I wanna be."

"Hm." The man's shrug is skeptical. "If you say so. I'll be at the bar when you realize good conversation is far more fulfilling than, you know-" He gestures at Chris dismissively. "Meat."

"I don't know," Kennedy muses. "I can't say I've ever been filled up by conversation."

Chris chokes on his whiskey as the intruder laughs.

"Touché. Have a good night, gentlemen." 🚓

After an unusual collaborative meeting between the DSO and BSAA, Leon walked in on Chris asking Hunnigun for her numbers. Leon, who had a crush on Chris for quite a while upon seeing that he had started distancing himself from Chris more than he already had.

Leon: So..... The BSAA's Golden Boy, Huh?

Hunnigun: What are you talking about?

Leon: You know, after that kick-off meeting with BSAA last week.

Hunnigun: You saw that...?

Leon: Come on, We've known each other for a long time. All I'm saying is Chris is.... He is a good guy. One of the greatest men I ever knew, it's clear to me that he's totally into you and, if you like him—

Hunnigun: Leon, I want you to stop right there. Captain Redfield didn't ask for my numbers because he wanted to ask me out. He asked for my number to ask me personally about you! He told me you barely answered his calls, and you have been avoiding him all this time, as though you want nothing to do with him. He's worried about you!

Leon: ..... What..... Why would Chris be worried about me.....?

Hunnigun: Well, I don't know? Call him and ask him yourself and don't hang up mid-conversation every time he asks you if you're doing okay this time.

Hunnigun then kicked a love-struck and confused Leon out of her office before calling Claire to rant to the younger Redfield about the whole thing.

Moderm Rookie AU Part 14!

SO!

Raccoon City Police have sorta gotten the TNT Virus thing under control. Sorta. The feds got most of the "pure" samples.

Most.

As many big distributors of the Totally Not Tyrant Virus were hit and shut down, there's also samples still out, plus none of the facilities had manufacturing means, so there's that lead too.

But again, the TNT is out of RPD hands, possibly some silver lining considering the losses Chief Montagna's operation left, including STARS Alpha pilot Brad Vickers.

How is Chreon doing?

For Leon, I somehow deleted this in Part 13 but in the Strike, he was at a location with an Eastern European crime gang, having not so subtly begged Sasha/Buddy to stay safe, stay home if possible, and for the love of god, don't do something stupid.

So Buddy doesn't get caught up in the Strike, though JD wasn't as lucky. So he now has beef with Chief Montagna.

Leon, Minerva, Captain Enrico, and Wesker are meeting with Chief Montagna. The captains specifically, but their rookies are along for the ride so they catch up and of course Leon tries to get dating advice from Minerva.

Minerva just can't believe this puppy dog is alive with his singular brain cell bumping around an otherwise empty skull.

As for Chris he gets an injury that keeps him out of work for a while, so STARS Alpha is down 2 members.

Also at the Chief meeting, Leon meets someone. For our purposes, he looks like Eddie Cahill when he played Don Flack in CSI NY, and if you struggle like I do to stylize real people, think a younger Higuruma but with eyes similar if not exactly like Leon's. This guy, Roman, is actually Chief Montagna's son and he's not a cop, but he works in construction. A family business, since the 1920s. He's just here to ask when investigations will be over so he can start working on those places.

Leon and Roman just get along swimmingly. Two peas in a pod. Like brothers from different mothers.

Anyways back to our shipping!

Leon asks Chris if they're dating. Chris answers he thought they've been dating for a while now. Leon agrees but wanted Chris to actually say it. They kiss, do a little more than kissing but not as far as Part 10's Almost Sex, and Ark is glad he invested in noise cancelling headphones.

This starts Season 3! Welcome back, my lovelies!

The Last Bullet

“What do you mean you lost him?”

Chris barked through his earpiece as panic began to ensue within his chest. They lost Leon. That never happened. Not with Leon S. Kennedy, their government lap dog who followed every beckoning order. How the fuck does a man like Leon Kennedy go missing anyway?

Static hissed back, then one of the Hound Wolf Squad members’ voice, tight and clipped towards his leader. “We had eyes on him. He cleared the stairwell, reported one hostile down, and then—”

*Thump*

Chris’ heart began to rapidly beat out of the sheer fear of losing his husband.

“Then his tracker went dark. There was no response. Not even a gunshot.”

Chris stopped walking. The corridor outside the briefing room felt too bright, too clean, like the world didn’t understand the shape of the words he’d just heard. He pressed the comm harder against his ear as if he could physically force the truth into something else. He couldn’t lose Leon, he was the only person besides Claire that he had left.

“Repeat that and this time, slower”, he ordered

“Leon Kennedy went missing. We have yet to track down his location but from the looks of it, there has been sights of blood trail leaving the DSO office.”

Chris glanced at the clock as if it was telling him the location of the missing agent,

“18:00 was his clock out time and blood trails were found at 18:09”

Chris choked as he heard the words of one of his Hound Wolf Squad members reveal what had happened. His heart pounding out of his chest was now sunk to the bottom, his throat burning with the tears begging to be released, and the blackening of his vision. It wasnt true, it could not be fucking true.

“Find Agent Kennedy now. Bring him back alive. “
