this bit in the new gourmet makes episode where chris finds out that there’s a channel in samoas and just says “a channel... oh my god” with a wondrous tone
*after the april fools episode*
brad: i’m surprised she hasn’t marched in to say “i told you so”
chris: she wouldn’t do that
claire: *coming up behind them* you’re right, i’d never do that
her sweater, as she turns around: claire told you so
Bon Appetit Test Kitchen Superpower AU:
Claire can replicate any object
Chris has super senses
Brad is straight up a werewolf
Andy is a siren that draws people in with his beauty
Carla and Molly are a telepathic hive mind
If anyone has any ideas for the rest of them I cannot stress how much I need to hear them
The Bon Appétit channel is better than any streaming platform combined tbh.
Hiya, re: your excellent BA summary, was just wondering if you have a source that Chris was responsible for negotiating Sohla’s pay? I can find evidence that Chris was the one that hired her but not that he was part of the discussions about her salary, which commonly is not something I think he would be a part of - have I missed anything?
I’ve been seeing differing opinions on whether or not he KNEW knew when he hired her. Some people have been saying that he wouldn’t know and it was all Rapo, so there is a chance he was just entirely ignorant though I think it’s unlikely given the environment that’s been revealed at BA.
Also being that oblivious given his position and the fact he’s been with Conde Nast for so long... plus other people have been saying they’ve been in the same position as Chris and were able to negotiate pay or were aware of the salaries of the person they hired... raises an eyebrow to say the least.
Personally, I think he knew and is the classic complacent/indifferent white dude. He only said he didn’t like what Rapo did in the very beginning and responded to Molly’s post saying he agreed with her and has said nothing since (literally nothing, not even on Delany or BA being completely exposed, or his halo-halo recipe lol).
None of the nonwhite staff have mentioned him being a major problem, but at the same time no one has said he has been helping them. His silence now is probably indicative of the silence he maintained while his coworkers were being disrespected by the company.
He’s already complicit like every other white employee no matter what, but I think he was more aware than most considering he worked for Vogue before BA and was friends with Anna Wintour and just chose to be silent.
Basically, I am not going to give him the benefit of the doubt because I seriously don’t think it’s true that he was unaware, and I am not willing to be played like a fool by another white man working at BA.

Hercules Candy are talking about Claire, Chris, and Brad from the BA test Kitchen and Gourmet Makes. They’re talking about ‘tempering chocolate’ and are like “We’ll happily show Claire the best way to temper chocolate.” and now that’s all I want because they’re in New York as well.
