Pairing: singledad!chrisevans x femalereader
Warnings: none.
Note: possibly the series title? It’s sounds a little silly, but I think I like it.
“Hollieee!” You called the golden retriever that you were dog sitting for the next week. She came running without another word. “That’s a good girl, it’s time to go home.” You gave her some good pets and hooked the leash onto her harness. Leash secure around your wrist you were ready to head out of the dog park as a dog came skidding to a stop right in front of you, leash still attached. Tail wagging with excitement the mystery dog took no time sniffing around Hollie, her doing the same. Both deciding the other was okay and they could be friends.
“Hi, puppers.” You bent down to read the tags on the collar. ‘DODGER’ it read. “Okay Dodger, where is your owner?” Wondering more to yourself than actually asking the dog. He was too busy with Hollie anyway. Grabbing his leash you surveyed the park, looking for anyone who could be searching for their lost dog. Not seeing an adult in a panic, your eyes did catch a small boy with sandy brown hair bellowing towards you.
“Dodger!” He dropped to his knees and flung his arms around the dog. Dodger responded by licking away the tears that stained the small boy’s face.
“Hi.” You smiled squatting to be eye level. The little boy looked at you, big blue eyes still filled with tears.
“Oh, phank you.” He hugged you. “Dodger chaseded a squirrel and daddy would be sad if he was wost so I chaseded him.” Letting go he went back to loving Dodger. You smiled, that dog sure did love his boy.
“I’m glad I could help, where is your daddy?” The boy’s face dropped, bottom lip quivering as he looked around.
“I- I-I don’t know!” He crumbled into you sobbing. You rubbed his back holding him.
“It’s okay buddy. Want me to help you find him?” You pushed some of his sandy brown hair out of his face.
“Pwease.” A few tears sliding down his cheeks. Smiling softly, you wiped the tears away.
“What does daddy look like?” You asked, taking his tiny hand in yours. Surely it wouldn't be hard to find, a frantic father looking for a lost boy.
“Like Capin America!” It warmed your heart. He thought of his dad as a superhero.
“Alright! He should be easy to find right? We can’t miss the big shield!” The little boy giggles swinging your hands. “I’m Ollie.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Y/N” You smiled down at him.
“That’s a pret-“ Ollie was cut off by the shouting of his own name.
“OLIVER WHERE ARE YOU?” A VERY distressed looking man shouted running in our direction.
“DADDY!” Ollie let go of your hand and ran towards the man, Dodger barking with excitement pulling Hollie and yourself towards them.
“Ollie, oh thank God.” The man scooped the tiny boy up in his arms. Ollie looked even smaller in his dad’s embrace. He was big and strong like a superhero. “Are you okay? I was so worried I lost you forever.” He checked Ollie for any bumps and bruises.
“Daddy I’m fiiinee” He giggled pushing his dad’s hands away that were now tickling him. “I was with Y/N.” The man’s eye grew wide, finally noticing you standing there.
“Hi, Dodger made friends with Hollie then Ollie came running after him.” You explained and handed him Dodger’s leash.
“Thank you so much.” He said with a small smile.
“Dodger chaseded a squirrel and I didn’t want to woose him but then I wost you, but Y/N helpeded us find you.” Ollie talked to his dad playing with his beard absentmindedly. Like all of it was no big deal. “Ollie, baby you can’t run from daddy like that.” He said as he set Ollie back on the ground.
“But Y/N helpeded me.”
“Yes, I know. Not everyone will be as nice as Y/N though. Or you could get really hurt or a bunch of different bad things. So I just need you to always find me first to help if Dodger runs away again, okay?”
“Okay.” Ollie agreed, turning his attention to the dogs that were playing. The man sighed knowing that none of his words actually stuck with the small boy.
“I’m Chris by the way.” He took off his sunglasses and looked at you and there stood Captain America himself Chris Evans. You knew he noticed it registering, by the way he let out a small chuckle.
“Y/N, but Ollie already told you that.” You smiled watching the little boy play with the dogs. “He’s super cute.”
“He’s a handful, but I love him to bits.”
“Daadddyyy can we pwease get lunch?” Ollie came over and hung on Chris’ legs.
“Sure thing bubba.” He scooped Ollie up. “Come to lunch with us?”
“Oh, I-“ Chris stopped you.
“It’s the least I can do, since you helped Ollie find me”
“Yeah come to lunch wif us pwease?!” Ollie gave some really good puppy dog eyes.
“How can I say no to that sweet face?” You asked more so to youself.
“It’s difficult isn’t it?” Chris laughed. “What sounds good for lunch, guys?”
“Grilled cheeese!” Ollie cheered earning a laugh from both you and Chris.
