Not seeing it mentioned so much. There are obvious parallels between Loki and Gunko in both having been forced (we assume) to kill their father's. However, Harald was possessed, and Loki was fighting his possessed father on his father's request (and to protect the kingdom). However, I think that majority of readers (myself included) feel that Gunko was possessed when she (if she) killed her father.

Reasons for this are that she regains her own thoughts for a second, frees Brook, and is abruptly repossessed. So she also greatly parallels Rocks, right? If not more so. In being the one possessed forced to kill loved ones? Splitting hairs, but, y'know? (Harald too).

Anyway.

Maybe she has more in common with Rocks and Harald than with Loki, apart from the actual act itself.

In all and any cases, possession is the root cause.

I think I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, anyone get Dalek vibes from Imu? It’s his pretty white dots. They remind me of the protruding bubbles/baubles on the Daleks’ plating.

Both veer to histrionics too, and are prone to narcissistic injury and meltdowns, I think! Just me? Probably.

So well fed with some longer fanfics on AO3 lately. Am currently reading wasn’t born on a safe ship (someone wore me down) by The_Escaped ( @shitlinguistssay on tumblr ). Younger Nico Robin finds herself given “safe” haven in Dressrosa. Law and Cora are still with Doflamingo under less than desirable circumstances. Doflamingo will make you scared. He’s a very delicious menace in the worst possible way (G-rated fic, though, so, although violent [or implied heavily enough to make you very uneasy] in the first chapter, not kink-o-meter menacing).

And there’s a wonderful ongoing fic from Bepo’s point of view (and he’s a super competent Bepo). A young Sanji (helmeted) is rescued from the ocean by the young Hearts crew (although full crew). It’s just extremely well written. Again a G or T rating. Bepo really is best bear at negotiating the trauma of both their new passenger, and that of the Captain of the Polar Tang. Plenty of humour, tho, but overall, just a solid and fabulously written multi-chap fic. ballast by islandfeeder (purrslink). I can’t find the author on tumblr, but let them know I gave a shoutout if you know them.

Finally, cannot go past, for art, story and heart (heh) Little Hearts by @badninken. (Not to mention setting!) I’ve fallen off the train due to time constraints and length, but I know the One Piece fandom loves good words ❤️ and this one has all the good words to add up to this wonderful story of the core Hearts. I’ll get it downloaded for my next long journey, so that I can give it the love it deserves, and I have read the first 100k! Anyway, you would be doing yourself a disfavour if you didn’t check it out. So finely crafted and enjoyable…and the Hearts and Law. I love all these versions! T-rated.

On that Trump-created, Trump as Jesus AI pic, imagine Doflamingo in the same kind of iconography. Claiming godliness and saintliness, rescuing the persecuted and downtrodden, all in the name of service to Dressrosa, and all the while oppressing the population for his and his family's own gain.

He claims he is a god (derived from being a Celestial Dragon, I think), and, on the surface, Dressrosa looks peaceful and fun (before the Straw Hats arrive). Not fun for everyone, though (although the pain is hidden). There is an argument to be made for Walpol or some of the other leaders, and I think they could be substituted, but Walpol seemed to be unpopular with Drum Island's people, and I don't think he claimed any kind of godhood. He does have Trump's buffoonery, though, but not those Aryan looks. Doflamingo is less buffoon on the surface, but is still "I shot my brother and your benefactor, and they thanked me, because I gave them forgiveness with a gun; --and look at the people in this great city because of me, but it's your fault LAW that they're miserable, not that they are, because I'm great, but if they were, nothing to do with me."

I doubt he would wax lyrical about paper clips and pens, though, but you never know.

Anyhoo, don't you think that one of the angel's descending in the Trump as Jesus image (BBC news story link. Scroll down) looks like PICA (or something out of Marvel)? The one with the spikes coming out of the helmet (or like King, from Onigashima). Love that the BBC, rightly, credits the image to Trump's truth social address (I did see it at the source). But, it is AI, so, y'know?

Trump: "I make people feel better". I think Doflamingo had a similar spiel when he stepped into the shoes he'd wrenched from King Riku's feet. Of course, Trump isn't the only oligarch/ dictator in the making the world's ever produced. His "art" is definitely taking a few pages out of the King Il Sung propaganda playbook, and vintage Sunday School texts. I downloaded the image, so can embed if wanted.

So I wanted to point out, as @queen-of-andor did that Morgans has a picture of Law on his board of newsowrthy people and events in episode 1154 (beginning of chapter 1124, except Law's picture doesn't appear). I want to draw your attention to Bepo, top right, and the heart pirates are doing their Zou pose just under the subtitle there. Also, next to Law's poster, it looks like Shach iin (I think) in his attack mode.

Of course, this is the episode where Morgans declares:

that Law has lost to Blackbeard and Kid to Shanks. It's a fun segment to watch, actually. Like, where does Morgans get his info from?

Ooh, it's probably just one of Oda's crumbs, but I just found out that Eris (Rocks' wife/beloved) is the daughter of Nix (Night) [or the original Eris was]. She actually doesn't have a very good rep, although the One Piece Eris seems amazing. Anyhoo, the Ancient Roman name for Nyx (night) is Nox which is Pedro's Pirate crew's name. Nyx is also known as the mother of dawn (Eos) in some tellings, apparently. Pedro's speech sticks with me still (as it should. A major One Piece theme).

Eris was a pirate before she met Rocks, and Rocks and Teach both are agents of chaos; we don't know about her. The darkness and catalyst for further discord can majorly be placed on the World Government, though. Eris seems feisty, loyal and a Ginny-brand of fun, but we've only met her a few times.

Like, unless it’s for beneficial legal reasons, I don’t imagine Law and Zoro marrying, but I do imagine them still being committed for however long it lasts.

Sanji calls Law: Trafalgar Lawn as a nod to Zoro’s hair (and to piss them both off), and Zoro becomes Ro—Ro—noa ローローノア　ソ” ロー　ZoRo—, adopting the longer sound that Law’s name has in Katakana. Possibly only applied to the Roronoa.

So Smoker got sole credit at Alabasta, and didn’t have enough rank to pull a Fujitora. I’m wondering how Roger’s team-up with Garp on God Valley became marine knowledge? It isn’t general knowledge, I think, but could be (I should reread that chapter. But I think the marines listening to Sengoku’s explanation of God Valley were surprised by the temporary ally-ship). As in, Sengoku probably didn’t need to acknowledge it, but I assume that Garp insisted and had the pull to be able to do so. Not enough pull to prevent both the actual and the figurative demonisation of Rocks, though.
