MF's snippet featured Yenna, and I also wrote (indirectly) about Yenna this week, so that's what I'm sharing today:
Astarion comes to with the sun on his skin and his hair in his face, which is fine, really.
He could be one of the crushed undead Lathander looms over, but he is decidedly not that. He could be languishing alone in the dirt, but he’s not that, either, because he’s in somebody else’s arms and definitely in motion.
"And I think I’ll grab her a new blade next time I see, like, a gnome blacksmith, so it's small enough," Jamie’s saying like this is a normal conversation. "All she’s got is that paring knife, man, and it’s dull. She can’t protect herself with that.”
“I think the paring knife means something to Yenna, though,” Karlach says, and Astarion realizes she's the one carrying him. Not ideal, but he can live with it. “Her mum gave it to her, didn’t she? Before… you know.”
“Guess so,” Jamie says breezily. “But I can get her a new one! A better one.”
Astarion cracks an eye open to peek at Jamie. They’re ambling beside Karlach, one hand jammed in their pocket and the other holding a cigarette they're hardly smoking, gazing around at the world before them like it’s their first time seeing it. The quintessential Jamie expression.
“You didn’t know your parents, did you, Jay?” Karlach asks, although she already knows the answer.
“Nope,” Jamie says, popping the p. “How come?”
