Baked Cinnamon Apple Butter French Toast
Meet Cinnamon Apple!
He's the only child of Big Macintosh and Sugar Belle, and while he may be a big pony, he's a sweetheart who followed in his mum's footsteps and loves to bake. Day 16 of the Reynolds Tavern 2024 Advent Tea Calendar. It is a cinnamon apple tincture. [Short description or hook].
Right out of the package it smells strongly of apples and candy. After 5 minutes of steeping using about 8 ounces of water at around 212 degrees Fahrenheit, it smells like spiced apple cider. It tastes like spices and hibiscus more so than apple, but it's still refreshing and warming at the same time. The flavor is light but sweet, with a slight aftertaste from the licorice root. It's mostly good, but slightly cloying between sips.
It's pretty good, but I wouldn't get it again. It reminds me of Yogi's Egyptian Licorice tea, so I think I must've steeped it wrong. I've never made that tea correctly (used a whole box trying), though I have had it made correctly by someone else and it was delicious.
