Cipher Falls AU
(Details regarding the AU under the cut! Above is a concept for Mabel, and below that is a concept for the twins facial markings!)
“We should go back.”
Mabel held onto herself tightly, her hair whipping in the cold, winter wind. “... But I’m... I’m sure the Shack is in this direction!” She protested, glancing over her shoulder to her worried brother. “Yeah, but what if you’re wrong? The safest place to take cover would be amongst the trees, we won’t be the warmest but... we can’t wonder through a blizzard in the dark.” The twelve year old jammed a finger at the grey clouds that were rapidly approaching, his free hand wrapped around his torso.
“But- Dipper-” He cut her off by turning on his heel to begin walking in the direction of the forest. Dipper hadn’t really wanted to spend winter vacation in Gravity Falls with some crazy Grunkle he’d never met- but his parents absolutely insisted. As the storm began to approach even closer, he was only reminded of his severe doubts regarding his presence in this strange, sleepy town. “Mabel, hurry up, we need to take cover quickly!” He called back to her, his walk breaking into a slow jog as he ran across the frozen grass. Mabel was definitely hesitant, but followed him nevertheless- there was little hope for finding the Shack at this point, no matter how much they wished to.
It didn’t take incredibly long for them to finally find a suitable bush, and crouch down within it. The two huddled together as the snow began to blow over the forest, and darkness blanketed over the woods, bringing them forth into the night.
What they didn’t notice was the tall, dark figure that had found them in the night. What they didn’t notice was the tall, dark figure taking them into his home, and tucking them into two beds.
What they would notice was the way he began to care for them more than their Grunkle ever had, in their eyes.
So, their love for the Father Of The Forest strengthened. ~~~
So, as the title says, this is an AU I’ve been working on for quite sometime, in which a version of Bill Cipher with impossibly large antlers and beautiful robes who calls himself the Father Of The Forest took Dipper and Mabel from the bush he found them in, and began to raise them as his own children. He injected powers into them, making them incredibly powerful Ciphers as well, and implanted his eye onto their forehead. The three of them would live together in a big treehouse, with a seemingly pleasant life. What they didn’t know was that, while Treedad (that’s his nickname) loved them, he was also training them to be weapons.

Meanwhile, Stanley would come to find Journal 3, and bring back his brother in due time, all while searching for the twins that had been sent to him over Winter Break in a frenzied panic. Their parents cut themselves off from Stanley out of furiousness of losing their children, and soon enough, he found himself nearly isolated, with an angry brother and no family left. However, what was particularly peculiar to him was the way certain things would happen... like he’d see flashes of brown hair, and yellow clothing. Almost as if a certain pair of twins were spying on him.
Sure enough, their curiosity was strong enough that they would go out into the world and spy on the citizens of Gravity Falls, occasionally even speaking with them or talking with them. Of course, Treedad knew about this, and only had one rule: never ever speak to Stanley. Naturally, they obliged, and life went on in Gravity Falls, in a seemingly endless spiral of doom for Grunkle Stan, a thirst for knowledge of the outside world from the Cipher Twins, and a dark plan being concocted by the mastermind of it all.
~~~ The pictures above are of Mabel’s design, as said, and both of those twins have the swirling tattoos with the Cipher eye on their forehead (although that usually remains closed unless they are in situations that require great amounts of power, or if they are using their omnipotence). I’m gonna get around to designing Dipper eventually, and a design for Treedad will hopefully surface soon as well!!! ~~~
Another theory that ties into this AU is one that I have been working on with Cal, who also greatly helped out with this AU and some of its concepts! For every universe, there is a Cipher, and each Cipher represents some sort of aspect of anything in existence. For example, Bill Cipher represents Fear, Will Cipher represents Memories, and Treedad represents Love. They all coexist, and some Ciphers are less powerful than others- and Treedad is the head of all Ciphers in existence. He put powers into Mabel as she is the host of all of the Cipher power in regards to the mind- making her the Cipher of Mind (as well as what some may consider the Queen of all Ciphers), while Dipper represents the thirst for knowledge- The Cipher of Learning. As Cibel gets older, she goes around to visit the different Ciphers, and help them with whatever they might need. So, obviously, this is a work in progress, but I thought I might share!
