To be honest, finding good accommodations is not difficult (we’re just professional procrastinators. Don’t be like us lmao) There are reasonably plenty of good options along the beach and along the main road. As much as we wanted to stay at Flotsam and Jetsam, as always and as expected, they were fully booked.
I’ve pretty much written a lot about the Circle Hostel since I’ve stayed there for quite a few times already (including Circle in Zambales and Circle in Baler). On the other hand, the Vessel Hostel actually quite lived up to its hype. The surf town of San Juan in La Union has lots of trendy new places worth checking out, but sleeping in a Kombi van seemed like a fun and unique thing to do. The Kombi Van Garage is the only private room available at Vessel Hostel, a four level surf-inspired hostel made from up cycled shipping containers stacked on top of each other. While the hostel is small, it manages to use the space very efficiently. Think Tiny House, Big Living. Vessel offers a cozy place to stay for a night or two in La Union, best for single backpackers or groups of friends who want to bunk together in dorm rooms.
The roof deck gives guests a nice view of the ocean (perfect for wave checks at dawn) and has a small kitchenette where complimentary continental breakfast is served. By the way, there’s fiber optic WiFi so you can always stay online.
