Poor Lil'puppa! 16 June 2017 Our little doggo has been sick for 10 days. I originally took her to the vet for a skin reaction/infection and weird behaviour. I don’t know if she reacted to the drugs or got a bacterial GI infection or what, but she went downhill fast over the past three days - vomiting, soiling her sleeping area, and yesterday, passing blood. She spent the day at the vet on a drip yesterday and is a very subdued little lady today (but no overnight accidents even though she is still in gastrointestinal distress). She’s always been such a lively, healthy dog; it’s alarming to see her so.
It’s also horrifically expensive. She’s on some of the exact same drugs I take (smaller doses) and they cost literally TEN TIMES more. The almost $1K bill over the past 10 days has chewed up our food/petrol budget for the month and more. Do people without a line of credit just have to let their pets suffer? I will have to shop around for quotes if she needs more tests.
On a more positive note, my meds are working. I took a morning walk in the glorious Perth sunshine and in the evening did a high intensity circuit class at The Dojo, followed by a holistic health talk. The guy was plugging his clinic and didn’t tell me anything I didn’t know (actually I could have corrected him on a couple of points), but that’s okay. It’s always good to hear other health professionals and I had a blast catching up with the crew - lots of roaring!
