Random Craft Dump!
Over the years there have been so many random and one-off crafts I’ve made: some for a purpose, and some just for fun. Enjoy!
A completely fake Keytar for a film I worked on. I had a budget, but upon realizing how expensive Keytars are, I knew I had to make one. I used an old keyboard and craft foam, painted with acrylic. This was made for a live action Jem and The Holograms film. Here it is on its day of filming:
Next, I made this cheap little Halloween wreath so spruce up my front door. I had a bunch of these cheapo cobwebs but didn’t want to decorate bushes or anything because I know how bad they are for birds. Solution:
Next is a costume I’ve always wanted to do for myself and got to do a super quick version of it for my brother. What a great sport! A friend threw a super fun carnival/circus themed birthday party, and we needed something quick! I was so excited he let me throw this together for him. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do a more in-depth version of it.
I found this kit at a thrift store for 25 cents, so I couldn’t pass it up. It said something so cheesy, I don’t even remember, “Blessed...” something. So I fixed it by making a Handmade’s Tale joke from it. It now proudy sits in my writing nook. I hadn’t done this type of stitching before, and it was super fun.
Last, but not least, and more of a grand finale, is not a craft, but a crafting inspiration. In 2019, fate lined up for me to meet the wonderful and beyond talented Christine McConnell at the Winchester Mystery House, of all places.
If you are not familiar with her, you should be. She is the queen of classy and spooky makers. At least once or twice a year, especially during Halloween and heavy crafting, I rewatch her The Curious Creation of Christine McConnell (Netflix), and always keep up on her current Youtube series. She is so unbelievably skilled, I have learned so much from watching her.
She was there showcasing her absolutely stunning gingerbread house model of the Winchester Mystery House:
