The reasoning the author provided is so good too- v2 having a sniper because theyre not particularly meant for close quarters but moreso security so its like getting them away before they get close enough which is why in ultrakill there isnt one and i LOVE IT IM ADOPTING THE HEADCANON ITS MINE NOW

Soulless v1 but that's the horror of it. It was never supposed to feel, was never supposed to think beyond its goal. It wasnt supposed to understand death, nor be afraid of it. It was meant to be expendable, for the sole purpose of once it dies another v-model can replace it.

Soulless v1 who, despite not owning any functional ai, anything that could hint towards wants and desires and hatred, holds them anyway, and wonders if it was all fabricated or if this is who it really is.

Soulless v2 of whom spent more time with humans and began to build up that mask of being friendly and cheerful to the citizens it protects, and then cold and calculating to the ones it doesnt.

Soulless v2 who realizes, in the end, it had thoughts and feelings and wants that didnt come from anywhere in it's code. That it didnt want to die. That it was going to die. That it felt rage. That it felt hatred.

V2 dies feeling weak, feeling just as helpless as the humans it was designed to protect. Feeling human.
