THREE OF WANDS "Fortune favors the brave!" -Aida
I see the Two of Wands and the Three of Wands as a two parter story. If the Two of Wands is the preparation, planning and looking out towards the horizon, then the Three of Wands is finally setting out to journey past that horizon, to explore the far reaches beyond and realize that dream that you have been building towards this whole time. It's when action is put behind the plan, when you finally set off and fly. We go, we explore, we lead and set an example for the rest to follow. It might be a little lonely and a little scary, but fortune favors the brave. Think of it as The Fool and The Magician mixed-- setting off on an adventure but with a lot more planning, patience and skill behind its actions. ::WHO'S WHO ON THIS CARD:: 1. Doc Brown from Back To The Future - Sometimes the Three of Wands can make you feel a bit of a mad scientist, but you're looking towards the future and your visions will take you to the future. 2. The Enterprise from Star Trek - It's motto says it all: "To explore strange, new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations-- to boldly go where no man has gone before." 3. Christopher Columbus - Despite the negative light shed on this historical figure (one of the negatives of the Three of Wands you should look out for is that selfishness and 'at all costs' vibe that sometimes can make you overlook what you do while on the path of your goal), I felt the explorers of old really had a lot of the Three of Wands in them. Marco Polo, Marco Polo, Amerigo Vespucci, Magellan, Francis Drake, and yes, Christopher Columbus, all had that foresight, leadership and exploration that the Three of Wands is known for. 4. Society of Explorers and Adventurers from Disney Theme Parks - This is a fictional group that is hinted at in several Disney park rides and attractions. Their whole aim is to get out there and explorer the world, putting their money where their mouth is and mapping out the world with their brand of leadership and tenacity. 5. The Scout from Civilizations Game Series - You use this explorer to chart the unknown world when you are first making your own country in the game. He goes out there to see what the resources are and reports back with news of his progress in order to build your country up. 6. Radames from Aida - Especially in the song Fortune Favors The Brave with the lyrics: "We have swept to glory Egypt's mastery expands From the Nile's northern Delta To the dry, dry southern sands The more we find, the more we see The more we come to learn The more that we explore The more we shall return Oh, oh Fortune favors the brave It's all worked out, my road is clear The lines of latitude extend Way beyond my wildest dreams Toward some great triumphant end We seize the day, we turned the tide We touched the stars We mocked the grave We moved into uncharted lands"
