REVIEW
Resuscitation by CJ Lyons & Jay Tisaino
~ Action-packed, fast-paced, life or death story where good eventually wins over evil ~
What I liked: * Blake: ex-military, lost his team to an IED, PTSD & panic attacks to battle, EMT working for ambulance team, protective, compassionate, combat trained, lethal, interested in colleague
* Dr. Sara Porter: ER doctor, dedicated, competent, bright, has difficult decisions to make while trying to protect patients and survive
* The supporting characters: Thomas, Evan and his mother, Alyssa and others
* Being able to dislike Mercer and his team of cutthroats that so deserved to be put down like rabid dogs
* Connor: one of the bad guys that would, I think, have preferred not to be with his brother in search of the cursed rubies
* Blake’s ability to step up and do what needed to be done even when it seemed he would rather not have had to do so
* The possibilities, potential, and hope that Blake and Sara had by the end of the story
* Reading a new-to-me author
What I didn’t like: * Mercer’s team and the mayhem they created
* The situation of the Emergency room, its changed status, and realizing that more and more small community hospitals may end up like the one in this story
* I would have enjoyed a bit more in-depth character building and a bit longer story but it worked as written
Did I like this book? It was okay
Would I read more by these authors? Maybe, if the synopsis sounds interesting
Thank you to NetGalley and Sterling & Stone for the ARC - This is my honest review.

BLURB
A blizzard. A hijacked hospital. One medic who refuses to quit. Blake Harrow thought his days of combat were behind him. Haunted by the deaths of his squad in Afghanistan, the reclusive EMT only wants to serve quietly and keep his demons buried. But when a late-night ambulance call nearly collides with a speeding police SUV, Blake stumbles into a a roadside massacre, an armed impostor posing as a cop—and a trail leading straight to Eastfork’s urgent care clinic. Inside, the killers already control the building. Patients, nurses, and doctors are hostages. Among them is Dr. Sara Porter, the woman who’s managed to break through Blake’s walls. With the storm cutting off all roads and communications dead, no rescue is coming. If anyone is going to stop the slaughter, it’s him. Armed with nothing but his combat training, quick instincts, and the tools of an abandoned hospital, Blake wages a one-man war in the darkened corridors—stalking his enemies, improvising weapons, and striking back with ruthless precision. When Blake’s every move risks the lives of the innocent patients he’s sworn to protect, he faces the ultimate how much is he willing to sacrifice to save the woman he can’t afford to lose? Resuscitation by CJ Lyons and Jay Tinsiano is a relentless action thriller that will leave you breathless until the very last page.
Review: Hollow Bones
Synopsis: From the ancient mysteries of a Mayan temple to the sinister secrets of modern medicine, FBI agent Caitlyn Tierney uncovers crimes that have been buried far too long and far too deep… It’s the kind of case that chills Caitlyn to the bone. Missing person. College student. Beloved daughter of a world leader in biotechnology. She was last seen on a spring break cruise. No witnesses. No…

I loved The Next Widow (Jericho and Wright Thrillers Book 1). CJ Lyons spins a great medical suspense crime drama. Leah Wright goes home after her shift as an Emergency Department physician. When she get home she is met with a horrific nightmare. Her husband has been murdered and her 6 year old daughter was the only witness. As much as Leah wants to find out who killed her husband, she also wants to protect her young traumatized daughter. Great medical-crime drama with an excellent medical back drop. I would definitely recommend this book.

High school senior Ella Cleary has always been good at reading people. Her family has a rare medical condition called synesthesia that scrambles the senses—her Gram Helen sees every sound, and her uncle Joe can literally taste words. Ella’s own synesthesia manifests itself as the ability to see colors that reveal people’s true emotions…until she meets a guy she just can’t read. Alec is a mystery to Ella, a handsome, enigmatic young journalist who makes her feel normal for the first time in her life. That is, until he reveals the real reason why he sought her out—he wants to learn the truth behind her parents’ deaths, the parents that Ella had always been told died in a fire. Alec turns Ella’s world upside down when he tells her their deaths were definitely not an accident. After learning her entire life has been a lie, Ella doesn’t know who she can trust or even who she really is. With her adoptive family keeping secrets and the evidence mixing fact and fiction, the only way for Ella to learn the truth about her past is to find a killer.
