what is the cjp demanding next?
so i looked into it — and, it turns out, the resignation for dharmendra pradhan wasn't the only demand on which talks were held. not enough people know about them.
these demands of the cjp have been accepted by the government:
maximum possible compensation for families of NEET paper leak-related suicides.
no action will be taken against anyone involved in these protests in the future.
cjp's exam reform charter will be considered by the govt and the cjp will meet with the govt to discuss these reforms further.
the first two points are clear enough. but what is the exam reform charter? it includes five points.
Enact a New Public Examinations Act
→ increase the minimum punishment for organised paper leak networks from 3 years to 10 years.
→ mandate the minister to explain every paper leak.
→ every paper leak must automatically trigger an inquiry, with action within 60 days.
→ create an independent examinations ombudsman with powers to investigate examination failures, award remedies, and issue directions.
→ create a national examination vendor authority to register, audit and debar vendors, with a single public national blacklist.
→ open every examination body to public scrutiny through several measures increasing transparency.
→ include a model framework for states to adopt.
Fix NTA, SSC and National Examination Bodies
→ dissolve NTA and establish a statutory national testing commission,
→ make the SSC a statutory body.
→ end hidden vacancies.
→ allow states to opt out of NEET for state-quota medical seats, and guarantee state representation in deciding NEET syllabus.
A Students' Rights Charter
→ right to compensation
→ right to age and attempt protection
→ right to affordable education
→ right to certainty
→ right to transparency
→ right to time-bound grievance redressal
Create a National Aspirant Welfare Fund
→ financial assistance for families of aspirants who lose their lives following paper leaks.
→ mandate access to mental health counselling.
→ regulate coaching institutes.
Permanent Parliamentary Oversight
→ create a permanent parliamentary standing committee on examinations.
→ publish a white paper on twelve years of examination failures and recruitment delays.
→ conduct independent audit of the implementation status of k. radhakrishnan committee's recommendations.
→ table an annual students' rights report before parliament.
after the acceptance of the consideration of these points and the resignation of the education minister, the cockroach janata party has officially called off the protest today.
it will be no surprise if these demands fade away along with the protest if we stop talking about it.
many of these genuinely do have a potential to reform the education system of india and for students to be actually taken seriously.

the resignation only created an atmosphere of accountability — it is up to us to take advantage of this to actually transform the system.
