I had a quick OC based on my limited knowledge of Clay inspired by one of my elective uni classes, i kid you not it's called Music and Astronomy: Exploring Rhythm and Harmony in the Cosmos. And therefore I present to you, and OC who I've imagined would have met Clay in this class, Clara Kerr (clar-Hac-ker) bc fk it I am a cybersecurity student and I wanna self insert a bit. The story goes that she's a music and space nerd and was lumped to be in a same pair for hw w Clay bc first names are alphabetically close, and Clay and Clara would spend time together bc oh boy that class was rough for people without knowledge of music theory. By extension, Apollo would know her a bit bc Clay hung out with her, and at some instances all 3 would just stay together in a library to study for classes.
She aspires to be a professional in the cybersecurity field, and honestly just hanging out with Clay and needing out w him inspired her to apply for Gyaxa for cybersecurity. Clay's a monster genius in his studies and she and Apollo would sometimes bond about how proud they are of him but also be a bit envious of his progress (i mean c'mon he's a young astronauts and dangit these gotdang geniuses) so he gets accepted by gyaxa but she gets rejected. She finds work somewhere else tho but she'd have to move across the country, leaving Apollo and Clay. Cybersecurity is a busy field and so is Apollos and Clays so she ends up not talking much to them after she's left.
Fast forward into the future, Gyaxa employs a 3rd party organization to audit their cyber security (yes it works this way irl) and Clara was chosen to be a part of the project. She briefly sends an email to Apollo and Clay just saying hi after so long and that she's visiting over the city for work and she already knows Clay's in Gyaxa, so she asks if they're free for a meetup after so long. They pick a day for when Clay and Clara are at Gyaxa, a day when Clay who's in astronaut training and Clara who's looking over Gyaxa computer network so it's easier for them to meet since Apollo can just head over there after work and all 3 can head out for dinner. Let's pretend that on that day was when Clay... Y'know (DD spoilers!). And she's one of the witnesses of the case bc there's gotta be some digital aspect in the case that concluded to what just happened, and after investigating plus her information on technology, the culprit is revealed.
Working with Apollo a bit to solve the death of their friend inspires her into a new field in cybersecurity, Digital Forensics. As there is a Forensic science, digital Forensics is when people analyze digital data, like going through people's computers, or cellphones or etc. for clues about a case. She resigns from her work and moves on to work in the same department as Ema, but is involved in a different work of Forensics. I headcanon that she's gonna be one of the first point of contact after a crime scene (i mean digital age and all surely criminals will leave a trace of their behaviour like texts or calls or shady files in their computers) like Ema and therefore will be a participant in cases.
As for her relationship with Apollo, she's chill with him but she feels a sense of guilt bc she partially blames herself that Clay died bc like what if she was able to detect the digital disturbance in the first place and stop the accident then he'd still be here. She had the skills to detect the mishap in the launch but she didn't. So she's trying to make it up to herself to stop bad things from happening by monitoring the digital world and helping the gang, but she's still emotionally scarred by what happened bc she lost a friend, but she knows Apollo is closer to Clay than she is. She's a friend to Apollo and Clay, but she's always known she's more of an outsider when it comes to the closeness of Apollo and Clay and esp since she left right after uni.
She'll always support Pollo and WAA as well with her digital forensic work, but she'll always feel that wall of guilt and separation from Pollo and tries to make it up to him by helping him strive for the truth, but also to stop tragedies like Clay's death as best as she can. I imagine she's the type of person who wishes people best from the background while trying to not insert herself too much esp bc she carries guilt, but hopefully by hanging out with WAA and just being with people who care about her, she'll learn to accept that she deserves good things as well and she'd fit more into the AA cast.
Lmao Idk, I just was heavily inspired by Clay bc I love space and I was devastated about what happened to him, tho I've never fully played DD yet to know completely what happened. Take my OC tho, it's a bit scattered brained and but I hope you enjoyed the read ^^ (1/2)
