Today I finally graduated. Spending so long battling with school. I nearly failed out of school, took a break, retook classes and got myself an associates and finally got a Bachelor’s Degree. Not much in grand scale I guess but for me this means a lot. Not sure what’s exactly next but for tonight I’m happy. 5 years ago I was 21 and had my whole crisis with school, my parents’ marriage falling apart, and broke up with my boyfriend of 6 years all within this time frame. I was a hot mess and it was hard to find any shred of joy.

But I pulled myself together and worked on what I can control, which is my grades and school. I was able to pass classes and get my degree and made some friends along the way. Here I am in the future, older, wiser, a little more jaded than I was. But I came out so much stronger. If I can tell the me at 21 who spent many nights crying over my ex, who spent days and nights in a dark Hell hole of self loathing anything is that eventually it will be ok. Here I am, and for the first time in 5 years, it looks bright

Dear Small Town Class of ‘19,

First day back at school, the start of my senior year and that’s just a wild concept to me that I’m almost done. All my best friends are gone and off to college so I’m stuck in my small town hanging out with others who don’t know me better than the average person, I miss them. My boyfriend hasn’t left for college yet so he’s home, but took the time to text me while I was in classes that he was super lonely without me to constantly text him... poor baby is gonna be bored for another week cause he starts our local university next week. First day back was about what I expected and I just can’t believe the changes... I’m use to what my year looked like my Junior year, the people I was surrounded with, just everything. I don’t think I’m ready to move on yet... so many people I’m not prepared to have forget about me or go without me and I don’t know what that says about me. This year is going to be tough I can already tell but I miss the people who loved me enough to carry me through on my toughest days and I’m going to miss holding up and supporting the people I love the most. I’ll remember them as long as I can and I love all of my best friends who are on to bigger and better things, they are really going to change the world and I’m so excited for people to be introduced to their brilliance and ambition. I love all of you so much come back and visit when you remember.
