Ever since the new aspect quiz came out I've been really nervous? Because it seemed real short. Then someone did an extended quiz of it and I took it and apparently? I'm a Life player. But I've really identified with the Rage aspect before the quiz. So I guess i'm just-keeping both. But anyway I just wanted to ask about cute things Rage players and Life players can do together? If that'd be ok, I mean.
I’ve decided to ditch my first-come-first-serve rule for a second because this is gonna be a long one, and I need to answer it now.
Tests are a good start to classpecting yourself, especially if you’re not good at it yet, but they are definitely not written in stone. Yes, even the official Homestuck-licensed merch one. Another thing to keep in mind is that your classpect does not wholly define you. For example, I’m a Sylph of Life, but I have a lot of Light and Space tendencies as well. When you want to think of your own aspect, I find that the easiest way to go about it is by asking yourself, What is the strongest driving force in my life?
I feel that Life fits me best as my aspect because what drives my life is the desire to be energetic, in the moment, growing, healing, helping, all that jazz. While I’m a pretty material person (I LIKE CUTE THINGS OKAY), I purposely want a career in my future that directly involves aiding people. I’m also a sucker for nature aesthetics and whatnot, so there’s that.
In many cases, if you’ve had a lot of problems with the opposite of your aspect, it’s a good sign. For most of last year, I was plagued with anxiety and fear of the future, of the idea that the world is too broken to fix, of that idea that life is only pain and suffering and struggle. There is a Doom slant to my negative thinking, and since my aspect is the opposite of Doom I wasn’t happy with it. Now, if I was a Doom player freaked out by Life, I would be terrified of how the world will eventually consume itself, that the moment is the most useless yet only part of our lives we can control, that one must always change and push and tax themselves for fear of being left behind. Sorry for all this heavy stuff, but you get the idea.
TLDR: If you think Rage fits you best, go for it. If you’re completely lost, think about what drives you in life and try to convert that into aspect terms.
(Sorry I only did 2, but this is already super long and I don’t want to break someone’s Tumblr app or something)
To be honest this would be a legendary set of people to play D&D with. A Life player DM would actively try to make the Rage players think of creative ways to get through obstacles, but these berserkers are doing fine with their intricate strategy of, “Ram through a wall and see what happens.” A Rage DM would try to have a very clear linear objective at first, but after the Life players refuse to follow it, they shrugged and decided more chaos is a lot more fun. Basically, your nerdy Light players would faint at this shameless method of tabletop RPGing, but the Life and Rage players are having the times of their lives.
I’m pretty sure both groups would love to compare powers and such, because Life and Rage have a lot of similarities. Life is about growth and change, and Rage involves toppling the old, false beliefs. Both are revolutionary and are about moving forward, so I think they would get along great. Imagine a Knight of Rage and a Rogue of Life, discussing how to work together to super-charge the Knight’s combat skills with stolen vitality from the enemy. Maybe a Sylph of Rage and a Prince of Life are coming up with ways to devastate the enemy front-line. A Mage of Rage and a Mage of Life exchanging recipes, because punching bread dough is fun. The best, and maybe worst, part of this is that they will most definitely try out all their new experiments. At least you got Life players handy just in case things get dangerous.
