mm i kind of want to wait until sunday when we got good quality scans and proper translations cuz spinaraki deserves that kind of tender love and care, but i am also wildly impatient and sick with excitement. so here’s the highlight surface thoughts and then sunday i’ll try and clean it up.
incredibly intimate even without touching, how spinner frames shigaraki’s face in a way that would be cradling if he got juuuuust a lil closer
the fact that this has to be an INCREDIBLY inconvenient way to equip the hand, especially given their positioning and that spinner only has seconds while mirio bears down on them. but it’s gentle.
horikoshi did not have draw spinner’s hands in a way that makes you think gentle, given the urgency of the situation.
the context leading up to this - spinner recalling shigaraki’s words about his family’s hands and apparently feeling that same despairing anger that has propelled shigaraki all this time! (the empathy of it! while also being a bit toxic because spinner and shigaraki are fucked up people! and with the implication that this is nana’s hand...!)
stole this from me friends but the potential fall out of this action when AfO promptly takes over! who chooses retreat instead of destruction, leaving behind compress, toga, and my good friend machia and probably my other good friend skeptic in the meantime! the way that spinner feeds into that aner and hate as represented by the hands because he understands that’s what shigaraki needs to keep going, but it’s that same anger and hate that AfO has always encouraged!
