Clayn Drabble - Soulmate AU
gave writing a true drabble a try, since i tend to go on and on when i write otherwise. decided to fill a prompt for @retrowrimay while i was at it, with an idea i found funny a while ago

Frustration often plagued Cethleann over not having a name written on her wrist. Nothing but absurd squiggles, in no form of cursive she had seen, and not resembling those of her parents or anyone else.
If the Goddess wouldn’t give her a soulmate, then what would be the harm in taking a casual lover? That was her thinking while becoming closer with Khalid upon his freshly-crowned return to Fódlan.
Their first night together was passionate, warm, and ended most satisfactorily. As he ran his hand along her forearm, he smirked when he reached her wrist.
“You know that’s Almyran, right?”
it's been nearly 4 years since i started shipping clayn (claude/flayn) and back then there was literally zero fanart, i search high and low and couldnt find shit, and now there's a whole bunch i'm so pleased
thank you @ethereal-will for joining me in clayndom and making this all possible 💛💚
Name: Clayn
Debut: Kirby’s Return to Dream Land
Today is Funky Friday, but you would be forgiven for thinking it’s Wiggly Wednesday! Look at these wigglers for as long as you’d like! Wiggle yourself, if you want!
Clayn may debut in Return to Dream Land, but that is not quite where its story begins, for Clayn is a creature years in the making, one they’ve attempted in the past, but one that was not perfected until this very game!
The legacy begins with Oro in Kirby’s Dream Land 3! Oro appears as a little inconspicuous lump until it is approached, which is when it will reveal its true form: a lump! But now it will also look at you. Oro is here to take you by surprise, and it does indeed do that!
Oro does not appear again, but it would be easy to assume that Sandman from Kirby 64 is the same creature in 3D! It is not, however, and from this I will assume that whatever Oro is made of is NOT sand, and that is what makes them different. They behave just like Oro, but like any creature in Kirby 64, they can be picked up, and will disintegrate into the sand they are... it is probably okay though.
Oro and Sandman are fine. They do their job well, and I like to see them! There is nothing about their designs that I particularly like, but nothing at all that I dislike to any degree. They are good lumps. But for ten years, there were no lumps quite like them! They did not appear again, and no one took their place! No surprise lumps... until!
Clayn Appears! They not only revisited this enemy concept, but enhanced it, perfected it! They basically did the same thing, but now, it’s a slug, and THAT is what they needed, because it is perfect now! All they had to do was put its eyes on stalks, and it turns just another lump into an impossibly precious creature, without flaw, and with virtuous blessing!
Based on the name and shape, Clayn appears to be not quite a biological slug, but instead a blob of clay taking a slug form, and why wouldn’t it? It can mold to any form, of course it would default to this one. Canonically the ideal form for a lump to assume.
Sadly, Clayn has so far only made one appearance... but I think it’s okay. I’m not worried about the future of Clayn, honestly! Kirby loves its history, and they are always bringing back creatures that have not appeared in a long time. I think Clayn’s return is not a matter of if, but of when! See you soon, Clayn!

Still have a lot to improve on skill-wise but this was fun to doodle yesterday.
