The Missile's Lane: Clean Sets
Hump DAYYYY!!!
I've posted several times about a particular bowling oddity or achievement. Certainly an 'honor score' is worth noting: a 'perfect game' 300 (12 strikes), an 800 series (266.7 average over 3 games), or a perfect 900 series (36 strikes).
These are all achievements recognized by our national sanctioning body (USBC: United States Bowling Congress... not the charging connector) with special awards, either a ring (for the first occurrence) or other similar merchandise (on repeat occurrences) presented by the League officials in the weeks following the actual event.
A 700 series (233.3 average over 3 games) or 250 / 275 individual games are also notable, and usually worthy of a smaller token from USBC: either 'bag tags' and magnets emblazoned with these scores or USBC-branded 'chip clips' and playing cards.
But a less-recognized yet still significant achievement is the 'clean set.' This is when a bowler rolls all 30 frames of a 3-game series without missing a single spare. It tends to be more achievable than the 'honor scores' listed above, but still is a challenge: one mental lapse or 'bad break' and you've left a split or missed a spare, causing an 'open frame,' thus spoiling an otherwise 'clean' performance.
Perhaps one reason is that you can have a 'clean set' and still have a (relatively) low score: stringing 9-spare frames across a 10-frame game (plus fill ball) gives you a final score of 190, which done for 3 games would be a 570 set (and likely innumerable colorful cuss words from never striking ONCE). Not an overly impressive score for an experienced league bowler... but noteworthy that you kept your composure and kept 'covering' those spares...
So I had a similar experience last night (thankfully a few more strikes than the example above): clean set, covering all my spares for a 646. Third time I've 'kept it clean' this season, contrasting with six 700 sets... which shows that multiple consecutive strikes can make up for one or two 'open frames' (missed spares), at least score-wise.
It all goes to prove one of my favorite bowling quips: "Spares keep you in it, 'til your Strikes gonna win it."
Have fun and keep striking (but cover those spares too!)...

Test Sim Has a Bad Day...
I always load up a clean version of the game post patch just to test everything is working right.
Happily there seem to be no issues but its fair to say my poor test sim Lauren was having a bad day.
First he set himself on fire cooking breakfast whilst I was off looking at scenery then he heads out to a bar only to find himself surrounded by one weird sim rummaging through the trash and another old dude doing press ups
Even his expressions is “What is this shit?!”
I didn’t edit these pics as they are not from my main game. Just thought it was funny and that I would share.
At least trash lady seems happy. lol
Now I’m off to build a woodland cabin :-)
The Sims has been installed :D
So has World Adventures. High End Loft Stuff is next :) Too bad I only have until 2 p.m. to install without interruptions as then I have to drive to school and then meet up with my group afterward buuuuut.... progress :D
I've got my new default skin and eyes downloaded. I think during class I'll work on getting my mods. Eventually I'll look for make-up, hair, and clothes. I have the files for everything and where to find it but... I'm thinking I'd rather just start over and only use those files if I absolutely must have something in game :)
Resistance Is Of No Use
One of the reasons I rate the West Indies bowling so highly is the way the pinned the batsmen down, and made them as scared as gay twinks, which made it so much easier for them to take their wickets. Robin Smith, affectionately known as the judge was a batsman who was known to stand up to them, and that is the reason why he is still respected both in the Caribbean and also South Africa; not many of you would have known that he was born in Durban, but because of apartheid moved to England and became one of its top batsmen. The Calypso bowlers had that sort of hold on the English batsman, they could not resist them, but the English batsmen fought very well in the last series in eighties and but for some unsporting behaviour by the hosts would have won the Port of Spain test, where they wilfully wasted time; both teams of course have a different take of the events, but It is hard to doubt the fact that England were the team that were the most hard done by. However, it was a major improvement for the team which once cowered like the gay twinks in front of the awesome pace.
