Jean holding Jeremy in his arms once Jeremy has officially moved into the Lofts and telling Jeremy that he’s glad that he’s finally home. Jeremy giving a quiet laugh and murmuring “I’m always at home as long as I’m with you. Here, school, the court— doesn’t matter.” And Jean is stunned into something that closely resembles quiet understanding but even more firmly: concrete belonging. “I feel the same.”

how the batfam saved each other’s contacts headcanons. because that’s what i’m thinking about, apparently.

dick:

- cass: he doesn’t have her number, he’s not even sure if she has a phone. she’s called him exactly once ever since they’ve met and he didn’t pick up because he thought it was spam.

- jason: he knows his number but it’s not a saved contact (he claims it’s because with jason being legally dead it wouldn’t be “safe” to call him out of a burner phone, let alone save the contact, but really he just doesn’t want to have this direct method of communication to him).

- tim: bruce gave them each other’s numbers when tim was like 13 because dick was complaining about tim just showing up to his apartment without warning, at first he just saved his contact as “tim”, but in a year or two when tim had to change his number dick put the new contact as “little brother” and it’s been like that ever since.

- damian: he never had to ask for damian’s number, because he found out dick’s first and called him from a bunch of different phones mimicking kory’s voice as a prank so many times that dick had no choice but to save all of them as “damian #1”, “damian #2”, “damian #3”, etc. nowadays damian’s main number that he actually uses to talk to dick is saved as “little guy” with an eye roll emoji.

- bruce: bruce’s number used to be saved on his phone as “b-man” in the early years, because he had a very hard time thinking of bruce outside of batman, but after one of their big fights when dick moved to new york for good, he changed it to just “bruce”. nowadays it changes a bit, if they’re in good terms it’ll be just “b” with some silly emoji (maybe a skull or a knife), if they’re fighting it goes back to “bruce”.

- steph: he never had her number until she became batgirl, it just never came up. barbara gave it to damian at some point and he passed it back to dick, even though he still thinks he doesn’t really need it. he saved her number as “stephsos” and only texted her a couple times back when he was living in gotham and would occasionally ask for her to bring something stupid like popcorn or a tabletop game when she came to visit damian. she usually just answered something like “go buy it urself rich boy” and he replied “fine lol”.

- babs: dick would always ask for her number (only half jokingly) back when they were younger, and she would just roll her eyes and say “in your dreams, boy wonder”. when they found out each other’s identites he asked it for the first time seriously and that was maybe the first time she considered giving him a chance. he saved her contact as “nerd-girl” with a purple heart. he’s changed it a lot over the years, sometimes more cute stuff like “pumpkin”, “gf” or “barbie” (he’s corny like that), but when he wants to piss her off it’s “james’ sister” or “comish’s kid”.

- duke: he only has duke’s number because they were both added to a dumb group chat to schedule some family brunch that dick definitely didn’t attend, so he saved it just because. it’s just saved as “new kid” with a light bulb emoji. he’s texted duke exactly once in his life to ask if bruce was still alive. naturally, he was left on read.

cass:

- dick: she does, in fact, have a phone thank you very much. she also has a little notebook with all of her friends and family’s numbers, but she never saved his contact because, frankly, she hardly needs it, and also, sometimes she’ll randomly text him “u suck” or “i hope ur car crashes”, and she finds it hilarious that he will never find out it’s her.

- jason: she lowkey doesn’t have his number and never considered asking for it. if she really needs to reach him she’ll figure it out, trust her.

- tim: he was the one who put his number on her phone and just saved it as “timbo”, she thought it was cute and never changed it. if secret identities weren’t a thing at the time she would have just saved it as “robin”, so a couple weeks later she added some bird emojis to make up for it.

- steph: she gave cass her number a long time before she had a phone, so cass just taped the little paper to her wall without really knowing what to do with it. sometimes she would call steph from babs’ phone in the tower, babs thought this was a bit too much and got her a phone the next day. which leads me to;

- babs: when she bought cass the phone the first number she put in was her own and (since cass couldn’t write back then) she was the one who saved herself and any other number cass aquired, so for the first years of Cass Having a Phone the contacts were all pretty standarly saved by people’s first names. when she learned how to write she would sometimes change some nicknames (“steph” and “babs” for example), but mostly just added silly emojis.

- bruce: she wanted to save it as batman but babs wouldn’t let her, so it’s saved as “bruce” with a bunch of black hearts, angry faces and bat emojis.

- damian: when she got his number she just saved it as damian, but as they got closer she eventually changed it to “brother”, then “annoying brother” and finally “smallest brother” with eye roll and katana emojis. he hates it, she loves it.

- duke: she’s had him as “fav brother” and “the best robin”, both to piss someone else off, but ever since he called shiva hot she’s had him saved as “motherFUCKER”.

jason:

- dick: he knows dick’s number by heart, would never admit it to anyone tho. he’s given dick his number in what he hopes was a super cool and totally non-chalant way to say “if you ever want to try Being Brothers again, i really want to Be Brothers with you”. he won’t save dick’s number until dick texts or calls him first. it’s a pride thing.

We need Chim to be Eli for Buck and tell him how Tommy always had his walls up and it was hard for him to get through. But it's worth it, and if Buck wants to be with him, he has to fight.
