ADHD is starting to clean one room and somehow ending up reorganizing your entire junk drawer instead
not sponsored or anything but i got this sidequest chores deck and i've been speedrunning this shit i highly recommend my house is so clean
I desperately want to clean, but I cannot like…. Organize? I guess? My desk is covered in random half finished projects and notebooks and tools and supplies and everything, and I just want to clean it and make it look nice, but I look at it and then get overwhelmed and go lay down. It sucks.
I was thinking about this the other day while cleaning
I struggle so much with cleaning. Earlier I was thinking about how cleaning is not that hard (especially since I prefer to just throw stuff away). So whyyyyy do I struggle? It's exhausting! Oh my gosh it's so mentally exhausting for me to clean. So I avoid it. Even though I don't want my house to be messy, I avoid it. It never ends 😫
So
I started cleaning my room (a very necessary thing), and as I've found a cleaning your room, it gets worse before it gets better
This, of course, means I've ran out of steam sitting on the floor on my phone because my bed is a mess of fragile shit
me: cleans room spotless
me: "I love my clean room!"
~one day later~
me: *room has clothes everywhere, unmade bed, funky smells, and discards of food on the bedside table*
Basically Had A Panic Attack
My landlord is trying to lease the unit next door but it doesn't have concrete floors yet like ours so he just figured "oh I'll just let them see Hallease's floors AND I WONT GIVE HER ANY NOTICE ILL JUST COME BY WITH THESE TWO STRANGERS! *evil laughter*" My apartment is an absolute mess since Ive been prepping and on set and when people come over I clean not intensely but I'm pretty thorough. So I saw them at my door and immediately shut the door behind me, as I stepped out and realized what was happening my eyes got wide and I almost yelled "YOU CAN NOT COME IN HERE!" Then he was like "...just want to show them the floors" "Oh God it's an absolute mess, oh God" and I'm smiling not because it's funny but it's all I can do - smile at my paranoia. So I opened the door just barely enough to see the floor - which was a mess since I hadn't swept yet! UGHHHH!! Why would someone do this to me!!?!? As soon as they left I went on a 5 minute condensed cleaning, Mr. Hallease didn't even say anything he just started helping because he knows how I am about this, if people are coming over the house NEEDS to look tidy. Somewhere between clean and homie with a hint of lived in. Everything doesn't have to be perfect but it can't be random. Anyway I cleaned it and went outside later and said "okay! Now you can see my living room." Jesus my heart is still racing - never again. Introvert/military kid struggles.
