The audience cheers
She skates into the center of the ice
She pauses as the music starts
Suddenly she’s flying across the ice
Propelled by her strong legs
As graceful as a dolphin
Leaping from the ocean
Yet as powerful as a lioness
Stalking her prey
The music swells
And she’s leaping across the ice
A flurry of arms, legs, purple fabric, and ice
Limbs moving with amazing control
Her skirt flaring as she lands
Ice shavings skittering across the ice
The sounds of her skates against the ice
Suddenly replaced by the audience’s applause
They know she is talented
She smiles before turning and flying off again
Her steps perfectly synchronised with the music
As if she creates it with her movements
The rink goes silent as she begins a spin
The onlookers so entranced
The only sound comes from the tip of her skate
As she leans into a camel spin
How is she so graceful,
Yet so powerful?
She carefully pulls out of the spin
Her arms as graceful as the wings of a falcon
Soaring through the sky
Her skirt still twirling
like an echo of the spin
the music slows as she prepares for her grand finale
She performs a series of complex jumps
Before throwing herself into a fast spin
The tempo of the music increases
As if it is one with her motions
Then they both stop abruptly
The music finishing dramatically
And the girl digging her skate into the ice
Sending small shavings flying across the rink
As she halts
Quickly posing for the audience
All so silent
Then
The rink is suddenly overflowing with sound
The audience applauds and cheers
Rising for a standing ovation
(It’s supposed to tell the story of a skating program performed by an amazing skater. It’s currently titled “figure skating” but I’m going to try to think of a better one. A camel spin is a spin where the skater leans forward with one leg up in the air behind them. Like a plus sign with out the top part. -Centimetre)
Lia: Oooh, it all sounds good to me! I would recommend trying not to use the word ice so much/so close together, unless it’s supposed to symbolize something via its repetition, if only because flow gets a little funky otherwise. But that’s all I have to say!
