doing a marie kondo style clear out to make space in my house and heart
Dear Vector Prime, I'm a fan of Super Sentai and Power Rangers. Is there a reality wherein the Transformers also existed and crossed paths with Ranger teams?
Dear Ranger Reporter,
Some, though such meetings rarely end well. I do know of one example of a successful team-up, but unfortunately the Autobot Elite Guard have classified all reports of Clear Out's adventures, so I am not at liberty to regale you with stories of his heroism. I myself only learned about them from a certain Renegade, and I had a strong suspicion that much of what I was told was improvised on the spot.

There are 11,523 emails in my inbox. 6,468 unread. I make a pledge to clean up.
I clear the social and promotions tab entirely. As new emails fall into them, I unsubscribe.
I face 3 pages of recent emails, deleting orders that have arrived, deleting the huge numbers of notifications eBay sends me, automatic out-of-office-replies.

Sort by oldest and travel back in time to 2010, my first year of university. I switched from hotmail to this gmail account to feel more grown up. There are intimate emails from names I don’t recognise. I read words that came from me but I can’t remember typing them at all, I can’t remember being this person. I wasn’t drunk, or on drugs, that’s just how my brain goes. Is it better to just select all for tab after tab of emails from 2010, 2011, 2013?
Or am I worried I’ll delete something somehow import, old, forgotten but not yet lost. Something about myself, something about who I was.
I watched a video once, not too long ago, that talked about time on the internet, and how because of the way our lives are archived here, they’re always happening, all at once. You can go back and read mistakes you made at 21, as long as you committed them to blog or email or a forum, since archived. There are pieces of me all over the internet. Sometimes when they’re dredged up- a facebook memory, a reply to a youtube comment- I euthanise them, unwilling to accept that someone might still think of me as that person.
