Keanu Reeves To Lead ‘BRZRKR’ Film And Anime Projects At Netflix
This was definitely inevitable. Deadline reports Keanu Reeves will star in a feature film and anime series adaptation of his comic book, BRZRKR, for Netflix. He will lead both projects as B, a “half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence … even at the sacrifice of his sanity” who cuts an 80,000 year path of blood across history. In modern times, he ends up doing work for the US…

Title: Hellboy & the B.P.R.D. #1 Writer: Mike Mignola and John Arcudi Artist: Alex Maleev Colorist: Dave Stewart Letterer: Clem Robins Publisher: Dark Horse Comics Price: 3.50 Release Date: 12/03 Reviewed by: David Melton
Hellboy has been around for twenty years, and most everyone has seen the two films that followed, so the following is already built-in for this title, and rightfully so. Mignola and Arcudi takes us back to the first time Hellboy was allowed to work a case: supernatural murders occurring in a village in Brazil. No one has seen him work yet so some of the guys he’s going with are a little on edge, but a man named Archie promises to keep a close eye on him. From the moment they show up, they find that what they’re dealing with isn’t going to be easily handled and so begins our story.
It’s a fun look at a character that has been around for 2o years at this point; getting to see what he was like, how people are so stand offish around him, how he reacted to the world once he was set free. Maleev and Stewart take the artwork to another level. Different moods, usually dark, and tones that help build the tension from the very first panel. An amazing dream sequence kicks this issue off and it’s one that I read a few times through; it’s that good and that enjoyable to look at.
Since most of us were too young to jump on this title when it first came out, don’t make the same mistake twice and pick this up on Wednesday. The ending is unconventional, but this issue perfectly sets up what we should be in store for for the rest of the run.
