#tom as a love interest for janeway#its funny how among the fandom shipping#seven x janeway#chakotay x janeway#tom paris#was the only one who had#CANONICALLY#had sex with#kathryn janeway#and had kids with her#we all know who won#the shipping wars lads#star trek voyager <-- living for these tags lol! lowkey I ship Paris/Janeway because as you said. They had a family together! But also Tom is so easy to ship with almost anyone, except Seven? As you said they have a cute buddy dynamic. I do wonder how Janeway filed the official report for "Threshold" haha how do you explain that to Starfflet command??
"Tom is so easy to ship with almost anyone, except Seven?"
Heh. Yeah, they instantly have buddy/sibling vibe the moment they start interacting. At first, I thought they'd go to a romance there, afraid of it tbh but I was actually impressed they didn't even hint at that.
But yeah, I do low-key ship Paris/Janeway too. Especially, in the first few seasons, I actually felt they were going there the first times I saw the pilot and then rewatching the pilot I felt a frisson of something.
I do wonder how Janeway filed the official report for "Threshold" haha how do you explain that to Starfflet command??
LMAO. Voyager might just win the award of the Most Weird Shit happening in a single starship. 'Cause how did that go down with Starfleet Command.
"You broke the Warp 10 barrier and became what???"
saw your tags on the hotdish post, I have answers to your questions: brats are bratwurst, the sausage. Cream of cheese and cream of mushroom soup don't need to be measured, you just put it in a can of each. These soups are usually put out by Campbell's, and most people do not straight up eat them alone but use them as casserole additives. These casseroles/hotdishes usually come from Great Depression meal cooking when people had to make a lot with a little. Which is why I've always called it Depression Food because, literal. My grandma was from Iowa, I've eaten so many of these concoctions. I'm not entirely sure I'd recommend them to anyone who wasn't raised on them, though.
(Hotdish post)
Thank you for the insight! I have no issues with cream of mushroom soup, we have that in the UK, but the next day the idea of cheese soup by itself is still breaking my brain a little so I’m glad it’s often used as an ingredient!
I think the thing to me is, in the UK I very rarely encounter recipes that combine pre-made food, and I think I’d usually see an amount even if there was a whole pack of something as an ingredient. I think this is a cultural thing — along with us using weights for measurements predominantly as the US using cups — but I don’t know why it is. Perhaps companies in the US did a better job advertising their products by making recipes and it caught on? I don’t know but I feel like there’s some interesting comparative history to be studied there.
On that note it’s interesting that you connect the food with the Great Depression — that’s a connection I would never have made. But I think I might have some old family recipes that date back to rationing during WW2.
I think I would like to try it, for curiosity’s sake, even though I don’t think I’m about to go shopping for cream of cheddar soup which I think I can get from US food shops over here!
