wooo, look at me, finally getting back into playing ffviir XDD

have finished chapter 7, and even tho i want to get ch 8 done as well (bc aerithhhhhh, i loooove you bby girl!!!!), i’m stopping here bc i’m too tired rn, and i want to be able to enjoy aerith to the fullest, and not have my delight be dulled by exhaustion XD

anyway, there’s not much to say on ch 7, as it was mostly just working your way through the reactor to get to the boss fight. but here are a few story related notes:

- avalanche......you guys, you literally made a public announcement that you were going to bomb reactor 5, y’all have no right to be shocked that shinra was lying in wait for you

- the way the remake handled the meeting with president shinra was a really cool update, bc it never did make much sense to me that this super important guy, who keeps monologuing about how avalanche isn’t worth his time....took the time out of his busy schedule to meet with them in person. so having it just be a hologram of him works a lot better, imo

- it’s interesting that president shinra also brought up mako degradation, as i’m pretty sure that crisis core introduced that concept. so i guess they really are going to be taking the compilation canon into account

(which again....just makes me so curious as to how nibelheim’s going to go down....but at the very least, the remake did do a good job at recreating tifa’s breakdown scene)

- also interesting that heidegger is planning on selling the public on the idea that avalanche is allying with wutai insurrectionists....on the one hand, it doesn’t make much sense to try to fire ppl up about a war with wutai, bc like......y’all already won that war?? and yuffie’s whole thing in ffvii is that she hates that her nation has been reduced to a glorified amusement park by shinra. but then again, i suppose this will work as a blow towards avalanche’s relatability, by making them out to be plants by those icky foreigners to destabilize the country for their revenge, or something

- aerith!!!! she’s so beautiful, i love her so much 💖💖💖

- and on a final note, this exchange amused me a lot:
