Ooh, we're taking a peek into AU's of AU's! Machiavelli has been through various AU's since I first watched TMNTFF many many years ago. The one referenced here is an AU in which Machiavelli is tasked with keeping his genetic replacement alive (caring for him is a stretch. After all, this little abomination was created to replace Ell. What happens to an outdated, inferior tool when something better comes along?) Another AU branched from this one (Mu2gen AU) in which the durtles' next gen replacements are not able to interact with their DNA donors because they are, frankly, unstable and these replacements were too high an investment to risk getting torn apart/manipulated/ruined by durtles who would sabotage a child to stay alive in a heartbeat. There are so many branching AU's involving the dark turtles, but I will always have a soft spot for "Machiavelli raises a mini-me, and through it learns to care for himself" AU.
