Great conclusion to the Clone Wars last week, so here's a little tribute I made to troops of the 332nd.
You know, I always wondered whether Commander Fox was in control of his actions when he shot Fives during the episode Orders. (S6-e4)
I can’t imagine any of the Vode would willingly shoot each other, the Umbara arc showed that, and Fox ran the Coruscant Guard, meaning he was most often dealing with civilians rather than the Droids. That means he would most likely have his weapon on Stun most of or all the time.
So why was his blaster on Kill?
Fox was stuck with Palpatine all the time, and we know Palpatine wanted Fives dead for what he knew, so is it unreasonable to think Palpatine tested his control over the Clones by making Fox kill Fives?
There were at least 66 Orders on the Chips, why wouldn’t some of them be related to killing rogue clones or Clones that knew too much. Or just turning them against themselves in general. The Arc is literally officially called the Clone Protocol 66 Arc.
So, Palpatine tested his control over the Clones to make sure when the time came he could kill the Jedi, especially as they came closer to finding out the truth about the chips. If they discovered it investigating what Fives said, he’d need to activate it. If the chip failed and Fox hadn’t killed Fives, he would have had to deal with Fives and also known to fix the chips in the future to kill the Jedi when the time came.
It was the perfect test.
