okay, in a workplace environment, shane hollander is the guy who is really smart and efficient and exceptionally good at his job, and he is rewarded with a leadership position that he absolutely does not want, but it's the only way to be compensated the way he deserves, and he's kind of miserable because he literally just wants to do his job.

Ilya Rozanov is the personality hire who also ends up being exceptionally good at his job, but he doesn't like doing it the way everyone wants him to, and nobody says anything because the work still gets done. nobody up top wants him in a leadership position, but they have to promote him because otherwise they'll lose him and he is such a fucking good manager, like, everyone who works for him is obsessed with him, because he is just empathetic and understanding and competent as fuck and he has the best retention rate in the company.

eventually, both of these people realize the system is taking advantage of them, start their own company together and take over the market. they also fall in love with each other and it's great
