Writing Group: Villanelle

I will admit, when I first took over the Writing Group, I wasn’t sure how the poetry forms were going to go over but the group members really seemed to like them. This poem form has lots of specifics. From Poets.org: The villanelle is a highly structured poem made up of five tercets followed by a quatrain, with two repeating rhymes and two refrains. Joey, Ceramics, uses clay to create something out of the ordinary in "double-walled forms"

After making lots of vessels on your potters wheel it can begin to get sort of tunnel vision-esq. Maybe you sit down ready to make something new and no new ideas come to your head because you feel like you’ve at least tried a version of all the forms you can think of. Open forms, closed forms, bowls, cups, bottles, jars you name it.

A Couplet to Capitalism

I do believe there’s something I should say,

And absolutely I must say it this way.

It may be harsh, it may be rude, but you
