Luke thought they were clear of the explosives and that they would get Tate the help he needed. Penelope thought she had disabled the explosives and saved Tate's life.

Then they watched him die.

When Luke enters her lair, he doesn't say anything. She doesn't even have to look up to know that it's him standing behind her. She can feel him before his hand touches her back. And then he holds her so tight, not just because she needs it, but because he needs it too.

Penelope and Luke are each other's safe space. They are each other's shelter from the storm. When the world ends, they will still be there. Together. Holding on with both hands.
