It's just very telling to me that while Season 16 and 17 are centered on one BAU member's emotional arc (Rossi and Emily, respectively), S18 is centered on Tara and JJ, and S19 is centered on Luke and JJ. In nearly every episode of the last two seasons, we're reminded of what JJ's going through, and we get to watch her story develop. That's how it should be! I'm glad they didn't forget about Will or drop her story altogether. But Tara and Luke aren't given that same courtesy. I'm not saying JJ should be getting less. I'm saying Tara and Luke deserve more.

It screams, "We (and by We I mean the writers, the studio, David f*cking Ellison, etc) don't trust our non-white cast to carry a season on their own". For the first three seasons of Evolution, Luke was given absolutely nothing to do, and then, the second he gets a storyline, Tara's story is pushed into the background as well. There's also the fact that Luke and Tara haven't had a single meaningful conversation with each other in years. That's especially wild because Adam and Aisha were friends before either one of them was on Criminal Minds. They have a built-in chemistry, and the writers refuse to take advantage of it.

The later seasons of the original run weren't perfect when it came to representation, but it did feel like there was an active attempt to push the show's diversity and inclusion further. And it is a big deal that Evolution made Tara the first Queer character on the show. I don't want to diminish that. At the same time though, Evolution has also taken massive steps backwards when it comes to how they handle their BIPOC cast members and that can't be ignored either.

I don't want to flood anyone's dash with negativity, but these are important conversations that need to be had, especially when we know the current owner of Paramount is actively working to remove Diversity from its shows. Adam and Aisha deserve better.

Anyone else really confused by comments saying this was a confession from emily?? She literally admitted that she broke up with a boyfriend for suggesting a threesome so much that she couldn't be with him anymore. He was not respecting her no. Like yeah, she didnt deny being into women but this doesn't feel like a Jemily win in the slightest it just feels like more unnecessary trauma for Emily???

Still trying to delude myself that maybe it's not Will after all.

So, here's a list of everyone it could possibly be in that funeral:

• It could be a random agent like they always kill off?

• It could be a friend of theirs or someone new that they have to work with that they introduce and then kill after a few episodes, similar to Doug Bailey.

• Could be Diana Reid? That would make sense given the state of things when we last saw her in season 15. If she's still alive right now, she probably doesn't remember anything anymore and is living solely from the round-the-clock care of her doctors.

• It could be Sandy Jareau. Which also would be less of a shock since she is getting older at this point. Definitely not super old, but old enough that it would make sense if she were to be taken out by some illness or heart attack or something.

• I guess if they wanted to, it could be Elizabeth Prentiss. It would be an interesting and dramatic way to show Emily having complex feelings over her mother's death since we know they don't have a good relationship.

• It would really really suck but it also could be Reid, himself. Which sadly would also kind of make sense since in real life, Matthew Gray Gubler is starting a new show as the lead. And also he's wild and chaotic enough that I could totally see him requesting that they abduct and torture Reid one last time and that he doesn't make it out of this one.

• It could be Matt. Which also would suck so much, but it seems like Daniel Henney is not coming back any time soon either. He's locked in to the Wheel of Time show for probably the next decade lmao.

• It could be any family member of a team member that is also mentioned to be a law enforcement or some kind of military person. Could be a family member of Luke's? Hell, even Tyler Green's, at this point lmao.

• It could be Anderson 😩 A fellow agent they've known for 20 years, as well. And have been friends with for just as long as each other.

• It could be Reid's aunt Ethel who he mentioned to Diana, who apparently is alive and well somewhere. Or his uncle who he also mentioned. That would explain why he would be returning, too.

Man.

Making this list has made me realise they really have so many more options that make more sense other than Will. If it's Will, all they're doing is destroying their most solid couple in the history of their show for no damn reason other than to give JJ more needless trauma.

Please, just not Willifer. They've suffered enough hits. They don't need more.

We all remember how she was in season 7 when she almost lost him.

She is going to be devastated. And if she ISN'T, then they don't know JJ anymore. I wouldn't even accept this as canon anymore. It's just a really detailed fanfiction.

I have some feelings about s18e02

so yeah, below the cut

While we knew that Will would die, I actually like very much that they didn't have him die while working.

It would be... obvious. Easier too. When we learned he would die, I thought "OH great another one being killed by an unsub."

I like that this wasn't what it happened. He got sick and died. This happens. Out of anything that happens in this show, this is the most believable death. People get sick and die, sometimes out of the blue.

(I still think this should've happened in the beggining of evolution and not now, but that's... not something to discuss right now).

And I get it, those characters suffer more than most (specially JJ who has her trauma push to the sidelines a lot), but also... is it traumatic? yes, it is. But it's a part of life. And it changes who we are but also, we live through it.

I don't think it's necessarily evil to do that to a character. And I think it brings a lot of oportunities to see JJ getting out of her comfort zone (JJ never really asks for help within the team, so there's a greater chance of seeing her do that. I think there's a lot of the grief part of it that might make her relate to Rossi and we can see them bonding over it; there's you know, some anxiety about leaving the boys alone if something happens to her, etc...)

I also think that having a character lose someone they love in such a normal way is... relatable to the audience. It certainly is relatable to me (as someone who lost their brother to a cancer a year and a half ago)

And also, I think the actors really want to be doing something in the show... They don't get lots of chances to showcase their acting skills playing these characters. AJ herself said in past interviews that she always wanted to be an UNSUB in the show cause it seemed really fun to play those parts. Give her some drama to act it out and more lore to her character. Hopefully this will give her more chances for fun scenes. And some new character development for JJ

I know someone is thinking: "oh you're a jemily shipper and you hate Will and you're just happy he died!"

Did I like Will? not paticularly. But I'm also not stupid to think they'll make almost every woman in this show queer. If we even get another one it will be a miracle. And we all know it's not going to be JJ. If we do get another queer is going to be either Emily or Penelope (but probably Emily). Also, I'm pretty sure we got Tara because Aisha pushed for it (and I'll forever be grateful to her!). I don't think the writers are falling over themselves to write any of these characters as queer. And I would like to add, not only I know there's not a chance of Jemily happening I also wouldn't trust the CM writers to write them properly. They barely remember they're friends!!!
