Content/Blogging/Website Integration
So far, our group has created some recommendations to improve the website and blogs for CNYCentral. Some of our goals include:
1. Create one area to house all social networks. Currently, there is no central location for users to locate this content. It is in multiple places throughout the site, and blogs are difficult to find. The site is not user-friendly.
2. Vamp up the blogs. There are some blogs created by reporters and internal staff, but they are not updated frequently, and the layout is not creative or interactive. We recommend personalizing blogs, blogging about certain topics/categories and encouraging CNYCentral staff to blog and interact with users who comment.
3. Allow conversations and comments between Facebook and the website. Right now, users cannot link comments on Facebook and article links-we are recommending creating a code that will allow the two conversations to occur.
We are now compiling lists of all the social networks CNYCentral uses, and coming up with designs for blogs and the central location for users to locate all the sites. This will be challenging because CNYCentral's website has a company template is must follow-we cannot change too much with the design, but can improve the layout.
