Do you celebrate #lunarnewyear ? What do you do? It’s getting hectic in Singapore with #chinesenewyear preparations underway. A friend told me she’s already prepping food with her family for 3 days this week in preparation for next week! I occasionally celebrated as a child but it was harder since my parents still worked and it may have fallen on a weekday. It’s so great that it is a holiday now (at least for NYC) so families that celebrate can really have a joyous reunion dinner. We’ve been pretty last minute this year but will certainly see a few friends that are like family to us as well. I gotta prep though and order a few things! I really appreciate living in Singapore and being immersed in the culture here. As a parent I also want to create family traditions as well. So we will wrap dumplings - 饺子and I’ll make some Singapore style pineapple tarts.
