Hi again ! I am creating a fielder and coastian oc and I was wondering if you had any color palettes for the two species (also drawing sonas for my friends based on your comic but that’s kind of beside the point)

This is from a very old fielder guide. Fielders are always beige to brown hues with light undersides and have tiny tails.

Coastians don't have a guide and aren't shown much in the comic, but their designs can vary a lot as long as the fur stays sleek. But then again coastians take in other breeds too as long as they accept their ways, then they become coastians as well. Well, not true coastians.

So sorry if this has been answered before but I need to know (ie im making an oc and want it to be more or less accurate)

What is the general stance on trans deer in their society? I highly doubt they have hrt in the wild lmao, and deer differ from male to female, so I'm just wondering.

I suppose it probably depends on the herd.

Answered here to some degree. Some herds are very strict with their members and how they carry themselves, and might expect offspring the traditional way, so transness would likely be seen as a rebellion. Woodlander herd wouldn't be a nice place to be, for example, whereas mixed herds would be way more understanding by default. Stonekrovns don't much care about gender either, and I'm pretty sure Coastians would be fiercely free to be what they are, even out of spite.

Physical transitioning would likely be just getting rid of antlers, or making makeshift ones. They're the most glaring difference between sexes (for most of the deerkind species anyway) and having or not having those would likely cause dysforia for some.

But yeah, reception definitely depends on your surroundings, like it does in our world too.

since the coastians aren't really important and you don't think they'll get much time now that gitta is dead, would you share any world building you have around them?

I want to keep these loose pieces close to my chest in case I ever need them. I also haven't written any of them down since I haven't needed them, so it'd be a workload I can't afford to spend my time on right now. You can see what little I've shared in their tag.

Can halv’s also be waterfowl? (Ducks, Swans, Geese, ect)

As long as it's a bird capable of 'reaching the sky', yeah. Coastians tend to have waterfowl halves.

1) Can you tell about Earbust as what kind of dad he is for his sons? When Boneslav aparted to his new job as a travel guide, he seemed a bit distant compared to Loudkill and Gutpull who hugged Bones (tho he said they'll sing for him every round moon). No judging him, just curious and greedy to know more about the stone family!

2) Do you have any real life deer species as reference for coastians? So far we've seen Gitta but for example, what kind of antlers the bucks have? Also were there any coastians as background deers in Gathering scenes?

3) Did you have personality/lore thought for the two marshlander gals (Ouri and Miri if I recall right) in Runi and Nero's herd? Are they related to anyone in the herd?

Earbust is super calm and collected, a man with one face but warm heart. He's a very involved father, always willing to listen and comfort, but also demands his boys to think for themselves and figure out who they are on their own. He too was there to hug Boneslav in the departure scene but there was too many more exitable characters to mow him down in the panels.

Coastians are weird and don't operate the same way others do. They're kind of like northerners, an umbrella term but not quite. Their designs vary a LOT because even a mixed deer can become a coastian, and sometimes even full-blooded e.g. woodlander can join them as long as they abandon their woodlander ways and assume theirs. There is original coastian species underneath the mixed masses, but it's not been explored in the comic and I haven't made strict plans for them. For now they only have narrow ears, smooth grey-purplish coats and elegant builds, possibly some crazy eye colors too.

3. Ouri and Miri! They're fillers with not much lore behind them, likely originating from another marshlander herd. I never chose if they were sisters or just Very Good Friends, so their relationship is ambiguous. They're close, pretty much in every scene they're together. In age they fall in-between the youngsters (Nero, Runi, Hovus, Biro) and matureish adults (Luma, Dorus, Vanja etc.) Ouri (left one) might be mute, or just very quiet. Miri talks for her even though there's no panels where she'd utter a word either...

helevise's death made me think if that is somekind of burial or formal cerimony for the dead in the GS universe,we know that the deerkind has different cultures but are still under the threat of predators and illness so what exactly are you supposed to do when that happens?

The norm is just what happens in nature — leave them, predators take care of them. Helevise's death felt very wrong not only because it seemed like she was meant to be found like that, but because the idea of her staying untouched for long was grotesque. Usma wanted her to go the same way the other deer go.

But then again I bet coastians have some weird rituals. Put them into the sea or something.

What the biggest bird a deer can have

The biggest high-flying bird. Fauna in GS is fictional though, it's hard to say. Coastians could rock freakish albatrosses and scoff at grasslanders' little sparrows and itty bitty tits.

Do the deer have holidays based of their species

I bet different species have their own fun things, some more than others, but other than Gathering that brings them all (well most of them) together, there's not much more to name. Coastians likely have the most wacky calendar.
