After tennis salad of chickpeas with baked egg at Good Day Cafe, Orakei. Chickpeas are my favourite, right back to growing up days when it was a specialty of Indian vendors. They are served in home-made paper cones. Especially at cinemas. It’s the local equivalent to popcorn. Sunny side up. The weather was indeed sunny for the usual Friday morning tennis. But then it’s school holidays and the courts are chockablock with the little ones, some of whom play better than some of us. Chef Brad at Good Day Cafe has made a classic Winston Peters’ Kiwi Values kumara salad so all is hunky dory with the world. Uncle doesn’t have a sweet tooth. Shock! Horror! What's this on his IG feed? The staff at Good Day are pretty persuasive. They have been schooled in the art of seduction. So, caught in a weak moment after tennis, this Doris plum & white chocolate brioche sweetheart winked at him and he caved in. Next they will be drip feeding him a latte from a bowl. Uncle enjoyed his brioche (from Little Cake Kitchen). The filling wasn't too sweet and the brioche was warmed up just right. Unlike the nuked ones you get at Hollywood Cafe.
