Dear gods, I love Charis... she and her daughter Irene are my favorites of the serpiente. I just love how supportive and kind she is towards Danica - I almost think she was like a second mother figure to her - or at the very least she could have been. :( Also it’s easy to see where Irene and even Zane to a point got their optimistic hopeful worldview. 

And, yes, we don’t get to even see Donovan or even really talk about him, but I like to think Charis proposed to him (top right). Also Charis kisses Zane in front of his friends which is sooooo embarrassing!

I haven’t drawn the cobra kids in their snake forms. It’s always irked me how the children of a python and a cobra are all little cobras, so I tried to give them traits of both python and cobra - especially Sisal. I think Sisal dwarfed her big bro Anjay and even her Dad eventually. Anjay takes after Dad. Zane and Irene have similar markings sorta. And Gregory ... maybe takes after a grandparent or a distant aunt? I didn’t draw Carson because I was tired - let’s just say he wasn’t born yet, m’kay?

Finishing up some Kiesha’ra sketches I drew awhile back before I get started on OC October.

I want to wrap these children up and protect them. Seriously got emotional when drawing this. The Cobriana siblings before everything went to pot. 

From left: Irene, Zane (very close bond with Irene and Gregory ((next)) Zane was a bit of a shy baby I think before his siblings started dropping like flies, then he but on that façade of bravado/sarcasm; he’s still pretty protective of his baby sis Irene), Sisal (the most like their mum Charis, a second mummy to the kidlets), Anjay (is closest to his sister Sisal; he went absolutely mad I think when she was killed and who can blame him really? Also the most hot-tempered of the cobra kids and that’s saying a LOT!) Finally, Carson the poor baby. I think he’s the saddest kiddo in this family. We never even get to meet him, but he died the youngest. :(

I know this is an X-Men exclusive blog buuut ...

Does anyone here like the Kiesha'ra series? I prefer it infinitely to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games. And there isn't near enough of it in the fandom circles I inhabit. :( It's a book series about shapeshifting nonsense and I am here for every word of it :D In the series there is a rivalry between the bird shapeshifters (avian) and the snake-shifters (serpiente). Things go hog wild when the heirs to both kingdoms get engaged. DRAMA. There is not nearly enough fanart for this gorgeous book series - so I made some!! From top left:  *Ailbhe - is described in the series as a "white viper." The closest snake I could find in the natural world is a gaboon viper which are just cutie pies. Ailbhe is a good, loyal boy. He has no time for your underhanded nonsense. *A'isha - is just described as "a viper," so I took the liberty to make her a green tree viper, my favorite! A'isha is very sassy, but loyal and compassionate. Her human form is always painting symbols on her body, so I wanted her snake form to mirror that. *Irene - the sweetest cobra to ever crawl. Irene is just a cutie. A bit more level-headed than her big brother Zane, she is often the voice of reason. She is a black king cobra. *Charis - Zane and Irene's mum (apparently in the series' universe a python can give birth to lil' cobrettes) A gorgeous reticulated pythons. I adore pythons. Charis is very giving and caring. The best python. *Danica and Zane in their hooman forms. Danica is described as having golden hair and "eyes the color of beaten gold." She's also got these nifty hawk feathers on the back of her neck. I wanted her to have pointed features. She is a worried baby. Zane seems like a creep at first, but he's actually an awkward kid trying his best. He has a temper, but his heart's in the right place. He has Gambit eyes. *Zanica cuddles!! *Zane is afraid of heights. We never get to see Danica go thru on her promise/threat to take her betrothed flying, so I did it here :D The brbs!!! *Danica - a sweet, but very mature golden hawk. There is no species known as "golden hawk," so I based Danica's bird form on our local red-tails and the European harriers and buzzards. *Nacola - Dani's mum. The stuck-up bird Queen. Nacola is stubborn and stiff, but isn't cruel or without compassion. I think she'd be a good grandma. :) * Adreios AKA Rei - a crow short on a sense of humor but long on devotion. Dani's best friend and confident. A good boy. *Betsy - a fat ole crow. She is an avian doctor with no time for BS. *Erica - a spunky sparrow soldier. Zane and Danica had the courage to forfeit their personal loves and dreams for the good of their people. Irene and Galen had the courage to love during wartime and bring life into an unsteady world... The best underrated couple from the Kiesha'ra series - Irene Cobriana, younger sister to Diente Zane, and her mate Galen, as well as their kiddo Salem. It's not specified in the series (that I know of) what snake species Galen is, but I think there is a headcannon (?) that he is a mamba. At least I like to think he is. Sadly, Galen isn't given much attention in the books, but he seems a pretty laidback guy (a rarity among the serpiente it seems). I think he nicely compliments the more diplomatic level-headed Irene, who doesn't seem to have much of the Cobrianas' fiery temper. I think she also has a fun-loving side (or at least she would have if the war hadn't forced her to grow up so quickly) I love Irene because she didn't abandon kindness and compassion despite being tormented by the cruelty of war. She is much like Danica, her sister-in-law, in that regard. I loved seeing their connection in Hawksong; I wished to see more of their bond in the following books, but alas :( Characters belong to Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Art is all mine. @simply-yelly2

Why, Prentice?!

All of the characters in the Kiesha’ra series seem to have both good and bad sides. They all have their charms in their own little unique way....

SO I CANNOT UNDERSTAND PRENTICE’S REASON FOR EXISTING.

He’s an asshole to begin with. He never approved anything serpiente ever did or does, and was very uptight about everything. I thought he was the epitome of avian gentleman, but he can be a real asshole, seriously. He rejected Sive’s romantic gesture, accusing her of being a “serpiente dancer” (basically saying she’s acting like a whore) for wanting to embrace him and kiss him IN PUBLIC.

IT’S BEEN TWENTY GODDAMN YEARS SINCE THE DAMN WAR ENDED

CAN YOU GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND GET WITH THE TIME ALREADY??? Serpiente culture is NOT evil. I understand avian culture is equally precious and it is to be respected, but his reactions are an overkill.

Seriously I can’t think of any good thing about that guy. I feel like he was created by the author solely to piss off Sive and end up poisoning Salem so he’ll be grounded (fed poison and/or clipped the wing so he can never fly again) and exiled from his proud homeland. 

I mean seriously who the fuck listens and believes a fucking rumor that Salem raped Sive?!?! like?!?!??! RAPE IS A CRIME PUNISHABLE BY DEATH, NO TRIAL NECESSARY, IN SERPIENTE LAND. As a member of the Cobriana Royal Family you would THINK Salem would NEVER do that, and he has a hot-bangin’ chick that he likes to smother in kiss everyday, he doesn’t need Sive.

Like seriously all he ever did in this series is to be a complete asshole to everyone, including his own betrothed, and then attempt to murder a King and get exiled for it.
