5X5 RULE
There are a lot things that can happen in our life and sometimes things get uncontrollable. Suddenly you feel powerless and upset or frustrated. I myself has a control freak gene and I want to make sure that I’m on top of everything and being the person who plans out everything I like to be in control. Like doing a TO-DO list before sleeping so that the next day when I wake up I know what to do and finish all the task and that gives me sense of control and man thats satisfying.
5X5 RULE is simply asking yourself one question: Will this matter or affect me in 5 years? If not, don’t spend more than 5minutes worrying about it.
This helped me a lot in decision making in my life.
Don’t try to control the the weather
There are things that will be out of our hand sometimes but you see life is 1% what happens to you and 99% is how you respond to it.
But I’d like to say theres a difference between react and respond,
react is typically quick, without much thought, tense and aggressive. We use our initial emotion. While response takes time, its more thoughtful because you speak with a conscious mind, and your mind takes time before answering. A response comes only when temporary emotions have died down. There’s a huge difference.
Control the controllables
The feeling of being in control gives us sense of peace and mental clarity. And with our day to day problems, we usually get stressed, and often think about how these decision affected our lives but instead of thinking that, think about what you can do moving forward to resolve these issues and contribute solution.
Again, if you can’t control the situation focus on what you CAN control, focus how you’ll respond to it.
Respond > React
Sometimes its easier to react on every situation that goes on our way. But let’s understand that its better to process and understand situation under conscious mind. Let’s be consistent in using 5x5 rule and being mindful with all our decisions in life. Life is not about progression and improvement. We keep learning. Apply them, and if we put this into practice we’ll achieve a peaceful life.
