🌈 and ☔
🌈 Share something soft/fluffy from your WIP.
Oooh, this was hard. In the end, I'm settling on this, from the will-be-coming-eventually follow-up to A Study in Patience:
His head tilts back to look up at the sky. Revali wonders what he might be seeing. It is a moonless night, and any stars overhead are hidden behind the glow of festival lamps. In the glow of those lamps, Link looks less like the paragon everyone holds him up as and more like a normal person: imperfect, approachable. A person without Revali's sense of discipline could fall for that. Revali refuses to fall for that.
(Suuuuuure, Revali. Sure. You're not a smitten fool at all.)
☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
I think I might finally have to admit that the chances of writing the MMO!AU are getting slimmer and slimmer. Putting this out there in case anyone's interested enough to want me to try anyway.
The tropes:
What if I put isekai (trapped in a game variant) + amnesia + a modern "human" AU + a quasi-Hyrule setting + magic + windwaker-style Rito (+ several other things I can't think of how to describe in a succinct and pithy way) all in one story and shake it up a lot
Cut for length -- premise below the readmore:
I will never emotionally recover from this
I can’t believe I have Syaoran’d myself
'bright' for the WIP game :D
Send me a word & I’ll post a sentence from my WIP that contains that word.
There’s a certain emotion dancing along the tone of his voice, bright and popping like a firework, and Bisco is scared that it's familiar, that he's starting to feel the same.
12. A character/ship I didn't enjoy/think about as much before you wrote about them
Dunno if it counts, but the fact that you made me thoroughly enjoy a fic for two fandoms (and characters!) I knew next to nothing about is damn impressive. I find myself thinking about it often.
Yes, this is about The spaces between, which is a treat of a fic <333
Ooooh, that one was so much fun!
I have an entire series about Judai getting yeeted into other canons, but other characters tend to react to him with either bafflement or outright fear, so it was extremely fun to have someone like WWX, who functions on a similar power level and is just extremely curious and very eager to ask all the questions he has on his mind.
Plus, they've got quite a lot of similarities and they play off each other very well.
It certainly was amazingly fun to write, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it despite both fandoms being new! :D
Ask me things!
32 + revalink? whatever you decide to do with it is fine 💙

“Oh!” Link vaulted off his horse in one quick motion, abandoning not only her but his Rito companion as well to clamber his way up the steep hill. Scoffing irritably, Revali took his time dismounting his own steed and making sure the two horses were at least off the trail before he followed, choosing to walk instead of fly.
Once he was almost to the top he could see a blond head poke over the hill, giving him a dirty look for taking so long. One he simply smiled at, further irritating the little champion who had to wait. Before he could fully crest the top Revali felt himself being dragged further into the small plateau by the impatient little hylian; towards what looked to be a quite sizable boulder. One that was at least Link’s size, maybe a bit smaller.
“You abandoned me for a rock?” Any other point in history, the rito’s voice would have sounded scathing, but now he simply sounded fond. Snorting in response, Link locked their elbows as he dragged him along. Affection coming much more freely after his hundred year sleep.
“I wanted to show you something.” Link was crouching around the rock, seemingly trying to figure out the best way to move it. Revali rolled his eye and took that moment to gaze out over the horizon The mid-day light casting a happy glow over the healing Hyrule. It made him fuzzy inside. Enough so that for the first time in ages he’s had the urge to sing, even if he’d never admit it out loud. Turning back he noticed how the sun hit Link’s overgrown ponytail, making it look golden instead of its usual dusty brown.
Moving to stand next to the crouched man, he reached out to brush his primaries over his hair, moving it to his back. “You need another haircut.” Link beamed over his shoulder and Revali idly wondered when he started noticing stuff like that.
“Here look!” He wiggled his fingers under a crack in the rock and Revali expected him to push or flip it over itself down the hill. Instead Link braced himself, before the rito could shout in warning, wings flaring out in distress; Link was heaving himself, hauling the massive boulder over his head and throwing it down the side of the hill facing away from the road.
Revali gaped. A mix of horror and impress coloring his features while Link laughed loud and brilliant, face lighting up with delight. “Look!” He cheered, pointing to where the boulder had been still laughing to himself and Revali just stared at him; breath sucking out of his lungs.
When Link noticed that the other man hadn’t said anything he turned his head, tilting it slightly with one of those rare bashful smiles, “What?” God’s he even sounded shy. Revali shook himself slightly, praying to all the goddesses that his feathers were laying flat and he didn’t look like a complete moron.
“Nothing. I just have no idea what it is you're gesturing at and am wondering if you’ve completely lost your mind after deciding to break your back lifting that boulder.” The rito’s voice raised slightly at the end of his rant, scolding Link for his reckless behavior. Which he at least looked mildly embarrassed about, from how he was scratching the back of his neck and avoiding eye contact.
Instead he changed the subject, jerking his arm forward and pointing again at the spot the boulder once sat. “You really can’t see him?” Revali turned and gave him an ‘Are you shitting me right now?’ look, making Link snigger. Crouching back down, only this time dragging the other man along with him, making their arms brush, Link reached his hand out and almost if by magic a small seed appeared on the palm of his hand. “Wh-!” Link tugged at his pauldron strap, keeping Revali from jerking away.
“It’s a Korok. A forest spirit. I find them all over Hyrule but their favorite spots to hide are underneath rocks on top of hills. It’s become habit to just climb every hill I see now because of it.” The smile he gave towards this ‘korok’ seemed very gentle and kind and it must have done something silly because Link started laughing again. “They give me these seeds,” He gestured for Revali’s wing so he could place the small thing in his palm. It looked almost like an acorn sapling seed, like it was ready to spout. “They play pranks on their siblings, particularly Hestu. These seeds are for they’re maracas. They said if I bring them back they’ll make my bag bigger so I can store more stuff.” If Revali hadn’t seen the seed appear out of nowhere or seen Link’s frighteningly spacious bag for himself he might think that the boy had lost his mind completely. Then again, he is a bit mystical in his own way. Defying death and living for over a hundred years; who is he to say there aren’t magical forest spirits he can’t see?
Rising from his crouched position, Revali stretched out his wings and handed Link back his seedling. “As fun as this detour has been, we really need to keep moving before sundown.” The blond nodded, turning to wave goodbye at the little ‘korok.’ Feeling wicked, Revali clacked his beak for attention. “Let’s see who can get down the hill faster. Your shield or my wings?”
Grinning ferally back Link said, “You’re on.”
Both were laughing in delight as they took off back down the hill. Winds whipping at their faces.
I have a question: is it okay to only post the first chapter of a fic during Halloween Week? The idea I have has spiraled out of control and there's no way I can finish all of it in time, so splitting it into shorter chapters seems like my best bet 😅
Of course! As long as you're inspired by one of the prompts, you may go ahead and post on the day. Be free, Cony.
