A short comic based on the ACTUAL in-game dialogue between Colette and Urag that was so cringe I had to get it out of my brain. Thanks to @kookaburra1701 for pointing it out and cursing me with this.
Featuring Enthir being a menace.

Best College of Winterhold NPC Tournament: Round 1
Onmund vs Colette Marence
Onmund
Colette Marence
Onmund is one of the students at the College, and a possible follower and marriage candidate. As a Nord, his interest in magic is considered unusual, especially by himself, and he states that his family were strongly against his becoming a student at the College. Colette is the restoration expert and high-level merchant, though not a master trainer. She's convinced restoration (and herself, by extension) are looked down upon, though whether this is actually true is unclear.
Zeer-Sha responds to the question, how she deals with her colleagues (they have a warm long-distance relationship)
Revenge on @wouldntyoulichentoknow of Kharish making a surprise delivery to Colette (who is a bit suspicious of both the delivery and how stable that book pile is). Hoping them (and you) a pleasant evening!
secret santa for @everybodyknows-everybodydies part ii !!! ft. all the canon sapphics you'll find about the college. all of them are in the game. you will find them all if you look hard enough
(I drew the first picture and I thought Well. I wanted to draw how I picture the characters from the college and I haven't done mirabelle and faralda yet. might want to doodle those. and then I did and thought I might do more. so I did)
today is my 19th birthday and i decided to draw all members of College of Winterhold! вот они слева направо
Alright so about Colette Marence
What they did with her character was so weird. Except if you realize what they are parodying and trying to get you to agree with.
I went in hoping to have some funny little quest line getting into the drama. My guess at the time was that the main guy who is fucking with her is Drevis, the illusion master trainer, because it’s clear he dislikes her from their dialogue (“Colette: "How are you, Drevis?" Drevis: "Ugh. What do you want?"”) and it would makes sense how he is getting away with leaving notes in her soup with his area of skill.
My main fear was they were going to do a twee “aha how cute he like-likes you that’s why he’s bullying you yay it’s all resolved now that you two kiss” plot, which would suck because, suffice to say, that’s some pro-abusive relationship propaganda
My main hope was it was going to be a very funny whodunit that taught us something about illusion magic along the way, we catch Drevis and finally prove it’s him, he gives a goofy scooby doo villain speech at us, gets told to knock it off and is forced to idk give me an illusion spell you can’t get any other way and an illusion buff enchanted item … and make a speech during the lecture hour about how restoration is a good school of magic… maybe also you find evidence Colette was the one retaliating with the magically cramming hundreds of apples in his pillow thing (see: the lecture Phinis Gestor gives about responsible magic use, “While Drevis appreciates the spellcasting skill that went into somehow cramming several hundred apples into his pillow... He would ask that it please not happen again. He has suggested that, should he find out who is responsible, he is well versed in making things disappear permanently."”) and you can choose to reveal that or not. If you do she just gets told to knock it off too and also gets asked by someone, Enthir maybe, how to do it. It curiously involves using special wards and the latent magical properties of apples, which the wards react with. Yet another (stupid) win for restoration.
Bonus benefits of completing the quest include Colette finally starts talking about interesting restoration magic topics for her lecture and has different, less beaten-down neurotic ambient lines now
Instead it was just go girl give us nothing except endless griping from Colette, justified or not, and endless sniping from other people at Colette. With the way they wrote her they clearly set her up to be just one note, nothing but annoying. The whole thing had the feel the authors who saw themselves as “anti sjw” giving a barely-veiled parody of “woman makes accusations of persecution her whoooole personality” where the lesson is “you should hate her and disbelieve her”
And it is parodying something along the lines of accusations of misogyny/rape, or accusations of prejudice in general.
Which, typical for the studio that gave us a reoccurring pattern of bone-n-stone tools themed “sub-sentient” mooks to kill and had a twice-accused rapist for a composer who was also "close friends with the CEO" (talking about Jeremy Soule here)
And you know, they left a lot of little digression plots undone or underdone in the College. The missing apprentices, the Faralda-Nirya rivalry, and arguably doing anything to repair relations with Winterhold or learning more about the Great Collapse. But this one I think they never intended to go deeper with at all. It was just supposed to be ha academic who is claiming everyone’s out to get her all the time point and laugh, and that’s it.
I would keep it, it does fit in with the overall vibe of academic backbiting they are trying to set up, but I would change it so you definitively do find she’s being petty-harassed and actually get to address it. Which also helps the player feel like we actually go to this school. Having small impacts that change what people say or do, not just the one big quest.
