Reminder that you should celebrate your achievements and your acts of kindness. Even if you believe the world will collapse and climate change will win. Celebrate yourself and your love for those around. You are allowed to still be happy and to make other people happy. You deserve to feel joy.
Sometimes around the discussion of collapse, and the copium people still stuck in the bargaining phase, it feels like I’m listening to a child’s fantasy.
“No, no, you just don’t get it. If we (the good, mysterious, global we that totally exist) all just got together RIGHT THIS SECOND and did everything in our power to stand up against them (the evil global rich top 10%! wait that’s anyone who makes like $100,000 USD… uh, I mean the evil global rich top 1% who control literally everything and can perform miracles, hence why they’re building bunkers and shitting themselves over climate change) we can FIX EVERYTHING.”
Like… sorry, but we can’t. It’s too late. It’s just a fact. The sooner you accept it, well… it doesn’t get easier, but denial won’t help either. Or maybe it will. Those in denial are probably happier. But this isn’t a children’s cartoon with heroes and villains and magic fairy tale endings. Civilization itself is the problem; climate change just takes our doom and fucks us harder. Knowing like 99% of humans are going extinct within my lifetime, maybe even all of them, isn’t really fun to think about. You can acknowledge it and not like… let it consume you. I did. For months straight. Nothing changed. I went outside and saw cars on the road, people walking by, and I just wanted to scream, but even if I did, no one would care or believe me. So, I just try not to think about it. I check r/collapse like once every morning, sometimes every two or three mornings, I scroll, skim the headlines, upvote and click off. I don’t linger on anything for too long. I just mentally cannot.
For the record, not out here to defend the rich, either. But some of y’all out here waiting for a revolution that won’t happen. There was a “workers protest” in my town the other day, and they were talking about the working class rising up… while a cop car was situated in the corner over-watching the protest. See how utterly fucked we are? Systemic, deep changes to systems take decades if not centuries. We didn’t go from mercantilism to modern capitalism in a year. And there has to be incentive; immediate gain especially under our current system.
We’re toast. Sorry.

#2 “Don’t look up” Movie thoughts
Just watched “Don’t look up” and it was harrowing and funny and harrowing.
The Satire hits close to the bone especially bearing in mind that the script was written before covid. The satire hits probably too close for some who will be turned off of the film immediately as soon as they see that a mirror is being held up to them.
But nevertheless the message of the film is abundantly clear. Personally, I can’t help but fell this film is an effort that has already arrived too late on the scene to be received in any real way. We are already so desensitised to the literal end of the world. And ironically that says more about the culture receiving this film than the film itself.
I can definitely see how some would perceive it as a left wing “climate woke” orgy of a film and I want to be able to see if there were any subliminal critiques of the “middle of the road middle class liberal” in the film and maybe i would see the on a second run through.
Not sure how much more analysis i can do at this time.
What stayed with me was a certain clarity like what it might be like to be standing in the eye of the storm where the air is completely calm surrounded by thick stormclouds of fear and insanity. I felt with a certain animal like sense coming from my nervous system that we will almost certainly succumb to our own plague of misinformation and consumeristic distraction in the manner that this film portrays.

OKay so. I just wanted to collect my reflections on collapse. I will try and post updates and reflections as they come and may add a video or audio series to this blog. Right now I just wanted to observe a couple of things and log them. I think i can say I entered preliminary collapse awareness in January this year 2021 after listening to the first of many post doom conversations with Michael Dowd. I didnt buy what he was saying at first. I clicked on the video because he was talking with Richard Rohr and after clicking through a few more videos I started to put the pieces together and rrealised that i had uncovered something severe. I felt alone at first and stil do. But at first i felt extremely alone and felt that i would be very condescendingly responded to if i told anyone about this new awareness i had stumbled upon. Now i feel more relaxed but i think i am entering a new stage of collapse awareness.
