One of the many contradictions of this incarnation of the left is the way it idolizes people who vocally called for Black gun ownership to defend against hate, and boasts multiple queer gun organizations now, but condemns Jews who suggest taking up arms to defend our communities.
Maybe synagogues should have armed security, maybe not. You know what's fucked up though? How people will treat others like they're evil for suggesting security as a response to the growing problem of antisemitic violence at synagogues. Try to understand for a moment.
It's reasonable to want to be safe at shul. It's human to want to be safe. Ideally you get that protection from your own community, not from a cop or rent-a-cop, but part of the left is vocally against Jews protecting ourselves in any way. Is there any acceptable form of Jewish self-defense? The only thing some people have said was “solidarity” which is a meaningless word unless you can get more specific about it.
