Started another sideways moss stitch sweater. Because I'm a masochist probably. But look how pretty this is pooling already! This is the same Symfonie Terra yarn I used for the last one I did, but a different colorway (Newyork Newyork).

Hang on....why is the color pooling different ? Same stitch count and needles, presumably same tension (I mean I finished the other sock only a couple days ago). The pink and white diagonal stripe section vs on the other sock it's more random is the most noticeable but I think it's different on each one.
From what I understand, color pooling should make the same pattern each time in this situation. The only factor that I can think of which could change the pooling is if I started the gussets a row or two off. But these are below the gussets.
To be clear I dont mind and am not complaining, just confused about color pooling now. I haven't done that many self striping socks that were anything other than plain stripes but the few pairs on similar looking yarns didn't do this. Any ideas why it isn't the same ?
Because everyone really loved the color pooling post, here's a half baked tutorial lol
The first thing you want to do it make sure that each individual color is the same length as the other sections of that color. You also want to make sure there's a pretty hard color change. Make sure you look at the full colorway before you start.
Finally finished.
The color pooling blanket is done! Pictures ft. fluffy kitty:
The colors are so bright it kinda blows out the camera, but I’m quite pleased with how it turned out! (Much bigger than I intended, but I had fun!) 7ft x 5.5ft and Albus approved!
The foundation chain on this blanket was bugging me so I went over it with another row of stitching while making sure to match up the color changes
I’ve been terrified of color pooling since I learned what it was but I finally got the gall to try it this weekend and I’m amazed. I was expecting it to be a lot harder. Though the chart definitely helps. I will say, messing with tension this much is a bit of a pain though 😂
✨️ New Cast On ✨️
I recently discovered color pooling and became obsessed with this crochet color pooling blanket. So I bought the last three skiens of this yarn at Joanns and cast it on despite it breaking my 3 project limit.
Oh well, it's gorgeous so I forgive myself. More updates coming soon as I cannot put this project down.
