The Beat-A-Bot Comment Challenge March 1 - March 7

Authors on AO3 are plagued with bot and scam comments, from those trying to sell us things to those trying to insult us. WE CAN DO BETTER!

Don't you hate getting a new comment only to realize it's from a bot? There's tons of fics out there that have NO comments from real people. Let's change that!!

The bots leave tons of comments, you can do it too! Join Baldur's Writers III in a week-long comment challenge where the only thing you need to do is comment and kudos on fics that have received ZERO comments from real people!

EASY MODE: Comment on seven fics that have received 0 comments or only bot comments

HARD MODE: Do the above... and also score BINGO!

Don't know how to find fics with no comments?

Go to search like normal, and then before hitting sort, put "comment<1" in the search within results box

Comment Challenge (May 2025)

We have a new Challenge for you! This time, the challenge is for writers and readers alike: support your favourite fanfics and fanfic authors by leaving a comment! Often times we want to show our appreciation to our favourite author, but don't know what to say - but as every author will tell you, that's not important, because every nice comment is a good comment!

Rules/Goals:

Within the month of May, leave at least 15 different comments

Be nice- the goal is to appreciate and support, not to bash others

Don't give unsolicited concrit- while well meant, it still includes critique, and some authors might feel discouraged by it. So only give concrit if the author states they are fine with it/ want it!

There are no rules about the length or elaborateness of the comments- no matter how unsure or awkward you feel with leaving comments, the important part is that you do! A small "I liked this, thanks!" is perfectly fine.

How does it work? 

The Comment Challenge runs from the 11th of May to the 31st of May

To participate, work your way through the challenges above (no, old comments do not count)

A full row / column / diagonal counts as bingo

To make it more fun, you can tag some people each time you get a bingo to encourage more people to join the challenge (optional)

If you’d like, share the works you’ve commented on to help others find new fanworks! (optional)

What is it?

A bingo event designed to counteract art commission scammers and encourage fic writers by making art for the fics you love in any fandom!

How it works:

Sign up via the entry form below. You’ll get a bingo card with prompts guiding you towards fics in any fandom. Pick a fic, make any kind of art you like (drawings, embroidery, playlists, memes, etc.), and share with the fic author to mark off each square.

Can’t draw?

You can make any kind of art you like – crochet, decorated cookies, composing a score, recording a podfic...

Oh damn, I started to do this ages ago and thought I'd be quick about it because I'm chronically online anyway so this wouldn't be much of a change to my behavior xD but then I got busy with irl stuff and also obsessed with a completely different fandom, so it took me a while to get back to this, and the bingo challenge actually helped me look for more J7 fanwork again! Summer Comment Challenge 01

Hooray, I have had time to comment on fics!

1. fightin' for my trust (and you won't back down) by LullabyKnell

Summary: It's not easy to be the parent of a teenager. It's definitely not easy to be the parent of a teenage superhero. It would probably be at least slightly easier, however, if Jefferson Davis actually knew that he was the parent of a teenage superhero.

A post-canon Spider-Verse fic in which Jefferson and Miles determinedly fumble their way through a loving father-son relationship, despite recent family losses and ongoing daily struggles.

Jefferson Davis just wants his son to be okay.

2. Separation by atamascolily

Summary: Luke slumped against the bulkhead and closed his eyes. It was the easiest way to shut out his throbbing head, the ache in his wounded leg, and the flickering hints of someone not-quite-substantial from the corner of his vision. If he didn't try too hard, he could almost see Callista silhouetted against the blinking lights of the control panels on the far wall. Or imagine he did, at least.

Soft wings brushed against his face, then faded as Vel crawled down his shoulder. Her proboscis tickled his collarbone as she lapped at the sweat-stained edges of his coveralls, which had flopped free in his last desperate scramble from the Sand People into the unlikely sanctuary of the Eye of Palpatine's gun room.
