Now I love TOS and I love The Doomsday Machine as an EP generally speaking. However, I don't think I'll ever understand how Commodore Decker made it onto the bridge never mind assuming command when Dr. McCoy and a few other witnesses saw how precarious Decker's mental state was when they found him on the Constellation. McCoy even commented on it. The only place Decker should have made it to on the Big E was sickbay.

I’ve rewatched “The Doomsday Machine” (Star Trek: The Original Series, season 2, episode 6). And it’s a little bit strange… I mean, on the one hand, it’s about a huge thing destroying everything on its way. On the other hand, it’s about a nasty and not very clever commodore which takes the command of the Enterprise and nearly destroyed it. And it seems that the second part is more important. ((Spoilers!) Well, to be honest, we found out that the Commodore wasn’t nasty he just felt very guilty for the death of his crew and then he even commits suicide.)

i would honestly laugh if the captain that was waiting on Vulcan at the end of last season was actually Matt Decker

because if that’s who was suppose to be Disco’s new captain, i need a scene of Decker just whacking Pike upside the head because “DAMMIT CHRISTOPHER STOP RUNNING OFF WITH MY SHIP AND COMMITTING MUTINY!!!”

and if Disco somehow ends up thrown into the future like we saw in Calypso by the end of the season, it’ll just be Decker going “GODDAMMIT CHRIS YOU STEAL MY SHIP, COMMIT MUTINY, AND NOW YOU TOSS IT INTO THE FUTURE????”

pls gimme a Short Treks episode of Matt Decker just reading action reports of what’s happening this season and just sputtering in increasing offended-ness at all the drama that Chris Pike is doing with his new ship
