COSMOLOGY: With over 1e83 atoms in the universe, how much of the universe can be remembered?
COSMOLOGY: With over 1e83 atoms in the universe, how much of the universe can be remembered?
I’ve often thought that the universe itself is incapable of storing a perfect memory of anything more than a tiny percentage of its contents–some laughably small fraction of its whole. Even with an amazingly efficient system, how much information could really be stored about what’s transpired in the past?
By this I mean: I’d like to know, for example, which oceans the molecule of water in my…

The Moment after The Beginning
Red shift galaxies merely give us an approximation of what could have been but then even god could have been, people might say. What the hell does science hold that is greater than belief and all those old books of tales and myths? Science holds evidence and most importantly it holds evidence of theories made by humans. It is a cycle- if you have a theory prove it and if you prove it, new theories emerge. Sometimes by accident. For example in 1895 Wilhelm Röntgen discovered X-Rays accidentally during his experiments with cathode ray tubes. This brings us to the main topic- which was also a coincidence but the theory had been submitted earlier, the proof came by accident from two astronomers.
THE COSMIC MICROWAVE BACKGROUND RADIATION(CMB)
In 1948 Ralph Alpherin and his associate presented a paper which had a tiny part explaining that if the universe was hot and dense as claimed by the big bang model, there must be a thermal remnant. ie. there must be heat left over in the universe in the form of Microwaves.
Now what is microwave? microwave is nothing but invisible light to us humans. when the wavelength of light is stretched beyond visibility, it is called infrared and then further microwave.
Science not only tries to find what it is but also focuses on how and why. In the early universe around 400,000 years after the big bang the universe looked orange. It was so hot that the atoms could not form, electrons and protons moved here and there and due to this free movement the photons kept deflecting. Light was trapped in a dense fog but as the universe cooled and reached a temperature below 3000 Kelvin, atoms started to form. This gave enough room for light emitted by this fog to escape. This also resulted in the formation of everything yet but we would talk about it some other day. Now it is important to understand what is Thermal spectrum- in the simplest of language we could say that light is emitted by movement of particles and this movement is associated with the temperature of those particles. From that event when light escaped due to the cooling down of the universe and further that light red shifted (Explained somewhat in my previous blog) and formed the microwave background(the static in our old TVs consisted of this radiation). This radiation was noticed by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson accidentally when they were trying to measure brightness of the sun(if you point an analog dish towards empty sky you will notice CMB). This is a proof of why the big bang is a theory to believe in but in science many things in the past which people believed in have been shattered by new science.
Though I said we should not dismiss the possibility of god in the first blog it is difficult to consider any slightest of involvement. I read how Hinduism says that every universe is cycle of creation existence and destruction but as said one thing at a time so maybe Hinduism is for another day.
