Telling you this cause it was your blog that put this book on my TBR: I just finished Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer and, I was trying to decide what to read next, but I think I'm gonna need a Moment to return to the real world. That was fantastic. What does one even read after that?!

That's one of my faves! I'm so glad you liked it. Sometimes I feel like I talk about that book too much lol. I know what you mean, I feel a similar need to Recover after (re)reading it!

Annihilation can be read as a standalone and honestly if you liked how unsettling it is the other two in the Southern Reach trilogy don't measure up imo (they are from different POVs).

If you're looking for more in the same vein of books that will make you say "what did I just read?" I recommend:

House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski

Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov (if you like classics)

Gerda Pullover (Knit)

The Gerda Pullover is a knit sweater pattern made with medium weight yarn that has an easy level of difficulty.

This is the free pattern I used from the Lion Brand website. I did modify the sleeve edge to be cuffed to the wrist instead of open and bell-like because I hate having cold wrists (if you want my pattern mod feel free to ask or DM, it's currently in chicken scratch so I would have to type it up but it's nbd). And I chose my own colors from yarn I already had.
